Actually they aren't even saying that anywhere in the article and they make no indication that they have access to NPD numbers either. The article is just super clickbaity.

What were the Ltd totals before November for ps4 and xb1?



Someone needs to tell the dumb dumbs at vgc that just because x amount of pros sold doesn't mean you can subtract them from ps4s total and say that's what ps4 would have sold if the pro didn't exist. More than likely pro purchasers would instead buy the ps4
