He might definitely die, but not between games.  Having Ellie as the main character is fantastic.  It and horizon are leading in creating amazing woman as main characters.

Yup I think it's great we get to play as her but I hope they modify her gameplay feel so that it isn't as light as the first game. TLOU is best when it feels weighty imo.

Bruce Straley, who co-directed The Last of Us and Uncharted 4, will not have the same role on The Last of Us 2, sources tell Kotaku.

 

Official word at the studio, sources say, is that Straley is on a yearlong sabbatical. Sony and Naughty Dog did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

 

His longtime creative partner Neil Druckmann is directing the game.

Well assuming that he's coming back to ND after the year I would say that he's going to have some involvement in the project later on, that or he'll immediately get to work on his own thing, which would be cool too. Overall I'm not worried.

Both him and neil need much needed breaks.  Neil is a machine though if he basically moving from TLOU > Left Behind > UC4 > UC Lost Legacy > TLOU 2.

This could be a sign that Naughty Dog is moving back to a two-team studio with Straley and Druckmann as directors.
