Advertising Standards launches investigation into No Man's Sky • Eurogamer.net

I saw this on Reddit a couple days ago but it's now confirmed by Eurogamer.

Basically either Steam/Hello Games need to remove most advertising material on the game's Steam page or Steam/Hello Games need to argue it isn't false advertising. This is UK only.

If they're advertising what they promised they could be in trouble.

I do hope a lot of what they promised gets added at some point.

It's weird to me because I didn't know stuff was missing from the game because the advertising I saw pretty much was in the game.

I still don't really know what's supposed to be missing.

I had someone get mad at me and say that the planet with dinosaurs they showed wasn't in the game to which I thought how would anyone know when there are billions of planets.
Is this where I talk favorably about myself?

That's kinda been the problem with lots of these missing features.

Hacking into the game file was the only way to confirm they weren't just rare.

I didn't know they hacked it but yeah most things I've seen complained about would be hard to prove one way or another since it's so large.

Yeah the game files have been completely pulled apart. Funnily enough the E3 demos and other things like that weren't removed pre-release, so people can go in and see all those custom models.

Pretty definitively the game is missing a lot of things. Man would I love to see a post mortem for NMS's development to find out why that's the case.

It was the same for me and got a few good hours out of it but if you watch stuff that was shown or said, a lot of stuff is either missing or dulled down. There's was a few things that I noticed missing but didn't realise how much until people pointed it out.

It's got to the point now though where I don't want to continue until I know there's an ending.

Yeah, it would be interesting to know why stuff was pulled.
It's not the first game or the last unfortunately.

I actually got a lot of play out of the game. I'm done now but I put a lot of hours in.
After awhile you run out of things to do and it gets stale like every other open world sand box title.
I don't think it has anything to do with procedural generation because it's the same for all games of this type.
