went to a bday party for my friend's son's 1st.  my friend is a big nintendo fan so i was surprised to learn he knew all about the nes retro thing launching this holiday but had absolutely no idea what a NX was or that nintendo was about to release a new console.

The console dock.
NX will work in two ways.

Undocked mobile
Docked console

You can charge only the undocked mobile part if you wish like Vita/3DS... the dock part improve performance and has it own AC adapter.

You don't need to buy the dock... you can only buy the 3DS like part.

That is what I think about the leaks.

Sony touted PSV was comparable to PS3 in power only because Vita had a lower resolution screen.
