I didn't notice a difference in rewards when I played it on hard. Its not that much harder anyway so I guess its worth a try

Once the full game is released do you have to be max level to play the crucible? Also, will gear affect your stats in the crucible?

Haven't play anything in the crucible yet!  I'm just hooked on exploring russia though I'm running out of place I haven't been too.  Might have been to everything already.  I am finding more caves I hadn't found before.
