It seems like it's over. Is it not?

No. Each side's PR is still claiming a victory, and each side is still fighting. Will probably not end for hours at the minimum, even though the coup seems to have failed.

dang, It looks staged. Seems like a planned coup from Erodogan to take over turkey. Apparently he said the coup was a gift from god, now he can clean the military and talked about a "new turkey".

Turkish Prime Minister said that 2,839 soldiers and officers implicated in an overnight coup attempt have been arrested. At least 265 people have been killed, including 104 pro-coup participants, while 1,440 people were injured in military action in Istanbul and Ankara.

Thank god it didn't work.  it so sad to hear about the people who died as a result of this. Severe punishments should be given to those who attempted the coup

why are we glad it didn't work.  if erdagon (sp?) uses this to abandon turkey's seculartism for islamization (which seems likely) i this the world is worse off for it.

look at what happened at turky and syria, then come tell me a coup would have been good.

The Turkish government has embarked on a purge of the judiciary following the botched coup, state TV reports, in the first sign of how last night could increase Erdogan's authoritarian rule.

NTV said 2,745 judges had been removed from duty, following a decision of the High Council of Judges.

Five members of the High Judiciary Court Board were also removed. "

I dont have sources from these quotes. If anyone can confirm them please post.

#BREAKING Turkish President Erdoğan speaks live, calls U.S to hand over Fethullah Gulen to if U.S is strategic ally
That certainly feeds into conspiracy theories about a fake coup.

This, and this, are certainly worrying newshttp://www.reuters.com/article/us-tu...-idUSKCN0ZW0SZTurkish authorities deny movement on and off Incirlik air base: U.S. consulate
The U.S. consulate in Turkey said on Saturday the authorities were denying movements onto and off Incirlik air base near Adana following an attempted military coup overnight.
The U.S. military uses Incirlik to conduct air strikes against Islamic State militants in neighboring Syria. In an emergency message for U.S. citizens, the consulate also said power supplies to the base had been cut.
