Martial law and curfew imposed by military.

So it's a possibility that because of Erdogan's active anti-secularism that the military enforced its constitutional obligation to restore it or a political rival made moves.

Yeah this is huge. Depending on what this is about, Turkey could either become very pro-West or anti-West very soon.

The Dogan agency reported that the statement said that the military did this "to reinstall the constitutional order, democracy, human rights and freedoms, to ensure that the rule of law once again reigns in the country, for the law and order to be reinstated."The military statement went on to say that "all international agreements and commitments will remain. We pledge that good relations with all world countries will continue."

So as long as they keep their word, this is about restoring secularism to Turkey which has been actively dismantled by the current government.

I hope that this is the case because Erdogan has been a horrible leader. I remember reading an article about him wanting to prosecute a German comedian because he read a poem that mocked him.

the opposite of above, no info, just the live feed of protest point on a bridge,  there is a tank there,  and protesters looked like they wanted to ram a bus towards the army.   its not all the time, but when shooting starts there is a bunch..   then it goes quiet for a bit.
