Battlefield 5 retail listing at World of Games (Swiss), "tactical shooter in WW1" - NeoGAF

QuoteLiamR linked to this store listing: http://www.wog.ch/index.cfm/productf.../Battlefield-5 (Source tweet) Battlefield 5 for PS4/XB1/PC. Lists October 25 as a release date. It includes the description "Mehrspieler Taktik Shooter im 1. Weltkrieg" which translates to "Multiplayer tactical shooter in WW1".

Stick in a trench for four years if old/redundant.

so an online listing for bf5  has a description as a ww 1 tactical shooter.

Heard this rumor. If it's World War 1 then I have zero interest in the game.

Not really. Not in a Battlefield kind of game. Sounds way too limited.

Nothing that could be better than the scenarios of any war after World War 1. I mean, this feels like reaching too far back for a Battlefield title. There's a reason Battlefield exploded in popularity and a lot of it is thanks to the kind of things you can only really get in more modern settings. Having a hard time imagining what kind of unlocked attachments I can put on a bolt action rifle from before the Great Depression.

true.  tanks would also be severely limited and air vehicles limited to bi planes.    im entrigued by the idea and ive hopes they got something sweet coming.

but i would certainly prefer ww2

No way is this legit. Battlefield is far too large a franchise and people in charge know pretty dang well historical shooters are unpopular right now. I don't think they'd even do a ww1 spin off game.

Battlefield k's alk about vehicles.thid want make sense!

Nah, I know what it is.
The plot though, is two armies going back in time.
The setting is in World War I, with technology from future.

Ive been thinking about it, and am hopefull that it may end up pretty sweet.   Machine guns + sniping + shot guns,  cool melee weapons, funny dog looking tanks,  artillery,   classic dog fights in the sky, dropping small bombs,  riding horses, poison gas attacks,  Large naval battles.  and we have to look past the western front. fighting took place all over the world, lots of battles that were more open.   they have lots to work with..

eastern front   was much different than the western front.  I continue to be positive towards the possibilities.

Plus if it is ww1,   there is an off chance the canadian Ross Rifle  might be in the game.   The early designs had issues with reassembly where the bolt could be put together wrong, leading to situations where it would blow up in the shooters face.  one of my great gramps got a medal for design change that made it so it wouldnt happen anymore.  If i can shoot people online using that gun, that would be fantastical.
