About a month ago I had this conversation with my sister, and recent events have really cemented the idea.

1960 predictions about the future have yet to come true. No household robots, no flying cars, and no jet packs. Instead we focused on digital advancements: internet, smartphones, computers, etc. Awesome tech, but we aren't living in the Jetsons.

Yet I think that's changing. The coolest tech on the horizon is physical. Drones are exploding in popularity, with drone shipping and drone cops becoming reality. There are even drones designed to capture drones!

What the fudge future!?! Within 5 years seeing drones in the sky will be as commonplace as seeing planes. Not exactly flying cars yet, but pretty dang close!

We also have jet packs!
Rocket belts have been around for years, but they're nothing more than novelties. They were dangerous, super expensive to fly, and had 30 seconds of airtime. This jet pack however is safe, runs of standard kerosine, and has 10 minutes in the air. Not too crazy, but all of a sudden it's actually feasible as a rich person toy. I could see them catching on really soon.

Reausable rockets!

Space travel is about to get a heck of a lot cheaper. 50% - 90% even, depending on many launches they can get.

Self driving cars too!

We are not living in the future.
At least until someone finally gets a dream recorder invented, and make it consumer ready in the next 10 years.
