The Flock is a MP game that'll shut down once the death count reaches 0
QuoteToday, developer Vogelsap revealed that The Flock will be available this autumn—but only for a limited time. There's a hard limit on how long it can played, after which it will go permanently offline.
"With each death in the game," explained Vogelsap, "one life will be taken from the Flock's population. When the Flock's population reaches zero, the game will never be purchasable again."

QuoteAccording to the developer, this extinction event will trigger a "climactic finale" that can only be played by those who already have the game in their Steam library. After that ending, the game will go offline permanently. It's a bold move—albeit one that does assume enough players for the community to deplete that population cap.

QuotePlayers start each round as a member of the titular Flock, until a Light Artifact spawns on the map. The first player to touch it becomes The Carrier, and will be hunted by other players. The Carrier can kill members of the Flock by shining a light on them. If they move within the light, they're dead—and now, it turns out, will reduce the overall population by one.

Would you buy a game that will eventually shut down on the pretense of player deaths?

Pretty much, the more it's played the shorter the game. Really odd.

But if there's only 1 person left in the population, who kills him/her?
Does the population come back if there are people available?

Seems like a half way attempt to be realistic/cool without really going into everything.

what a shaming design choice.  i think a community event for when the death count reaches zero is kind of cool but killing the games online is punishment not reward.

there is something called respawning. once the live meter runs out, everybody dies.

@OP: seems like an interesting idea, but a stupid decision over all. why would i buy this game if i know after a while i wont be able to play it? seems like a stunt and they would reopen the servers after that "climatic ending".

seems like a stunt to bolster up front sales... and it may be working as I want to buy the game so I can deplete the spawn count... lol can you suicide in the game

That's not what I mean though.
If there's 3 lives, how can we have 4 people?

It's like if this population number is so important for realism, why do they limit it in such dreadful unrealistic ways?
