Fortune: Nintendo started talking to 3rd parties at E3 about NX; reception positive - NeoGAF

QuoteWasn't mentioned in the other thread about Miyamoto's comments, but there was a blurb in the article that Fortune heard that Nintendo was talking to 3rd parties about NX at E3.https://fortune.com/2015/06/23/shigeru-miyamoto-wii-u/
QuoteThe problem for Nintendo is the NX's launch is at least a year away—likely more, as the company reportedly just started talking about it with third party partners at this year's E3. (The reception, say insiders, was positive.)

which means nothing has changed.  nintendo will lauch with a few third party "tests" (read late ports) and then nothing again. a 2017 launch is catistophic.  ps4 will be four years old and closing in on 100m.  too late to be a part of this gen.  too early (especially with nintodo's conservative console desing) not to get blown out of the water by the ps5/xbox2 that will already be starting to get talk by then.

To be fair, there isn't a Mass Effect 4.

Not now - when NX2 is mentioned in a million threads 2 years after "NX" is released.

I don't know why this supports a 2017 launch. To me it supports a 2016. ND remastered TLoU in 6 months, right? Third parties can easily do a lazy port in a couple of months. They do need to start shipping the dev kits though.

If not Holiday 2016 then definitely not a Holiday 2017. Probably Spring 2017.... And by price is right rules people who said 2016 launch would win

Quote from: God-of-Sackboy on Jun 28, 2015, 08:35 PMAlso Miyamoto isn't helping design it so good news.

iwata is still in charge. he and Reggie still have the same mentality. put in gimmicks to sell your console, not to make the games on it any better.

maybe this will be a good gimmick.

...but if the gimmick is the "fusion" idea nintendo fans are going off on then nope.  no idea why anyone would want that.

Which isn't a viable strategy, in my opinion. Gimmicks are merely one gen solutions, sometimes even only half-gen solutions. In contrast, having constant software support from 1st and 3rd parties is an invaluable asset.
