Scalebound, Crackdown and Quantum Break at Gamescom - NeoGAF

QuoteFrom Phil Spencer's post on Xbox Wire.http://news.xbox.com/2015/06/xbox-lo...medium=twitter
QuoteE3 is just the beginning. Over the next few weeks and months, we'll be sharing many more of our plans for 2015 and beyond. Having a jam-packed lineup of games to show at E3 means that there simply isn't enough time to give each of our upcoming titles its well-deserved time in the spotlight. We've decided to save some of our most eagerly-awaited future titles for gamescom in August. Rest assured that titles like Crackdown, Quantum Break and Scalebound will be front and center at gamescom along with new game reveals for both Xbox One and Windows 10.

Um what's left to show?

Halo 5 11 minute demo. 3 minutes PVZ:GW. TR 5 minute demo. Division 6 minute demo. Ac 3 minute demo. 10 minutes Hololens. 3 minutes Vr. 6 minutes indies. 5 minutes Gears. 2 minutes new third party game. 3 minutes a different new third party game. 3 minutes Forza. 1 minute Rare teaser.

Rest of time is used on transitions.

Anyone have a better guess?

I don't know but my anticipation for Microsoft's E3 just went way down. I was expecting Scalebound gameplay and crossing my fingers for Crackdown. I was also willing to give Remedy a chance to sell me on Quantum Break but they already announced they wouldn't be there.

A sign that Microsoft will be bringing a bunch of new IPs?

Doubtful. Twisted Pixel and Press Play are both working on something new as well as Rare but other than that Microsoft's studios are either too early in development of new projects, are working on old IPs, or working on games we already know about. The more likely scenario, I think, is that the games we know about will get substantial screen time, they'll trot out some timed deals, some multiplats they have marketing for, and a surprise or two. Truthfully, I think this may end up being their most uneventful E3 so far this gen.

Well if that's true, then that's quite a bummer, especially when Phil was hyping up Microsoft's press conference over the past few weeks.

Or a sign they learned Sony was announcing TLG.

Microsoft "Nope. We lost. Save all the good games for later."

Yeah QB being at gamescom makes sense, it's always been there.

These other two are weird. Why would they be pushed back?

I bet the games are just still really far from release and will only have CGI trailers at gamescom anyway. Microsoft could have announced them too early.

Microsoft has so much to show that they had to take things out and move them to Gamescom... at least that was their line last year.

God that was so embarrassing. Though of course, the fanboys ate it all up and defended that battleship to the death. Their justification? Gamescom was awesome because a timed exclusive Tomb Raider deal was announced.

Kagari on GAF is saying Scalebound was ready to show and probably still has an early 2016 release.

So then why is it being moved back?

Strategic move? Perhaps Microsoft knows some things Sony is doing and decided it may be better to wait until Gamescom so they don't have to compete? I mean, no one knows what to expect of the game because we really only know it's about dragons. It's possible that Microsoft is worried about it being drowned out by the talk of what Sony announces. I can't think of any other good reason to hold back unless Microsoft feels highly confident in what they have at E3 without it.

On that note, If Sony shows TLG it won't matter what MS has. That's going to be the talking point of E3, if it's there.

Raven's thoughts: to get away from Sony's E3.
My thoughts: to spread out their announcements so they look like they have more than they do.

The Last Guardian will be a huge deal if it's announced but that game is a double-edged sword. On one had, simply announcing it would be awesome and finally put that shame to rest. On the other hand, there is so much expected of this game that it might be a situation where no matter what we see someone is pissed about it. Either because it's the same as what we saw years ago or because it changed too much. The safer bet should be placed on GG's new IP since that thing is being hyped based on what it is rumored to be. Not how long it has taken to release the game and the team it at least WAS being made by 6 years ago.

Or both. It's entirely possible. I was already wondering what they were going to have to show at Gamescom if their E3 ended up being big. We know what happened last year.

I agree, it's in a gran turismo situation. Even if it's the best game ever made it's going to get shame on because it wasn't this or that. But it will destroy this E3 and honestly thats all they need at this time. They need to put a stop to "the xbox has better game" montra that's floating about.
