Not sure if we talked about this but according to this hotfix on the 14th, public events now occur twice as frequently.
I definitely noticed that. I hadn't seen any before then a couple of days ago I saw 3 in one hour.

so the next destiny expansion is up for pre-order:

https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/#!/en-us/games/addons/destiny-expansion-i-the-dark-below/cid=UP0002-CUSA00219_00-DESTINYEXPNPACK1?smcid=psblog:addons/destiny-expansion-i-the-dark-below:up0002-cusa00219_00-destinyexpnpack1:ps-blog-2014-09-16-playstation-store-update-360

looks like it launches dec 31st.   now i love destiny so far but i'm not sure how i feel about a $20 expansion every other month.  as a "casual" i'm not sure i'll ever reach the end game content if they keep reeleasing more content before i get to the end of the original content.   this is going to be an expensive game.

anyone else going to get it?  going to get all the expansions or just some or none?

edit: so i bought the digital gaurdian edition.  did i already by this particular expansion?   looking like yes?    an expansion every 5 months is a lot easier to take.  i was thinking this was the first expansion after the ones i already bought.

The Dark Below and House of Wolves are the first two expansions. So you already have them with the Digital Guardian edition. From what I understand, the expansions will come every 3 or 4 months and there will be many of them. It was their way of avoiding subscription fees by giving optional expansions.

So Destiny has sold through $325m in its first week, which means it sold about 5.5m units. No where near as many as a lot of people were expecting.

how many were people expecting?   that is almost half the initial week sales of the best CoD launch ever.   how is that not good for a brand new IP?   anyone that expected more than 5-6M week one is crazy imo.

I saw many people saying 10m+ first week on the chartz. I think its an excellent first week although I was hoping that it'd do more

many people on chartz are crazy and make their predictions based on hopes rather than looking at the wealth of data availible to them.   i mean,.. we've got people in the sept 6th thread saying there is "no way xbox sold more than ps4" completely ignoring that launch sales ought to have been in the 100s of k not tens of k.

destiny's success was always going to depend on legs.   i know what the reviews are but i think most people are actually enjoying the game.  if the game has good legs than we know people like the game and  and good word of mouth is spreading and the destiny 2 will be massive.

From what I can tell word of mouth isn't good right now

what is your evidence?

i only have 2 "casual" friends with destiny.   1 loves it and he keeps texting me about setting up time to play.  the other loved the beta,..  i haven't talked to him since the official launch but i looked at his profile and he is like lvl 21 so he's played a lot more destiny than i have.

I know 3 other people that have it, one loves it the other two think its ok. Also I was playing Destiny yesterday and my sister walked in and said, "isn't that game supposed to be shame". She doesn't know much about gaming, facebook told her apparently lol

Not much evidence but I did just say from what I can tell :P

lol, but what did you tell her?   i wouldn't be surprised if she saw some article or whatever about the disappointing review scores,.. but personal references from friends carry a lot more weight.  i remember thinking demon's souls sounded like shame from the reviews but there persistent praise a friend gave it eventually wore me down.  thank god i listened to him because that is now a top 5 franchise for me.

I never even spoke to her about the game. She just recognised the game as Destiny and said isn't it supposed to be shame. She wouldn't have read an article either. Not that its important anyways. I agree about that, for example my cousin persuaded me to play Dragon Age and Uncharted, needless to say that I love those games now
