There is no player-driven economy. They want people to go out and get gear not just sit around and offer glimmer or sexual favors for a gun. It's also the price of having your own loot table. It ensures you have a reason to keep going back to get something to drop for you instead of someone else giving it to you.

5 Destiny PS4 skus in the top 20 on Amazon US lol (all in the top 16 really), including two digital skus

I'm buying Destiny right now digitally through Amazon US! Can't say no to half price (compared to Iceland)!!

Indifferent. It's not a big deal. That's not the kind of game Bungie wanted to make. Player-driven economies can become a pain for developers to keep under control and they want people to actually engage in the higher level content and earn their rewards through actual success. Not just grinding on lower areas to buy gear that someone else earned but doesn't want so they can go into that content beefed up. Bungie has said before that they want people to see your gear and know "he beat that badass boss to get that".

i'll reserve judgement until after i start playing.  nothing wrong with being different if different is good but i have a hard time imagining this game without any sort of trading system.   with earlier in the thread being told that classes are a minor role to gameplay i think i maybe was expecting a different game that perhaps is being delivered.   i suppose you're going to tell me there is no crafting system either?   no equipment "enchantments" or whatever you want to call status buffs?

i'm probably just comparing this too much to WoW but if bungie wants me to "always have a reason to come back" the player driven economy (aka trading) and crafting specializations and equipment buffs and a class system that promote creating alts and talent trees where you can't get all of the talents and all go a long way to make it feel like there is always something more i could (have) to do to improve, refine, and experiment with my gameplay.

This avoid the issues that had on Diablo III at launch... player market is a bad thing in my view.

No crafting in the game. "Enchantment buffs" come in the form of upgrades already pre-baked into the gear that you unlock by gaining experience with that item and then using glimmer and sometimes special items to "purchase" it. Some are different scopes, some are faster fire rate, some are neat things like reducing grenade recharge with headshot kills. The more rare the gear the more upgrades it has. You are not thinking of this game correctly if you keep thinking MMO. It's Halo mixed with Borderlands with more online functions. It's not WoW or FF14 or TOR.

two games i've never played.   ;D

when you say "pre-baked into the gear" do you mean the enchantments have no player choice?  if as a player i want to prioritize scopes over grenades or whatever i may find myself farming the same piece of equipment several times trying to find the "right" enchantment slots.    ...not sure how i feel about that.
