Saw it on Chartz, as well. The entry price is too high and I don't even know what the target audience is. PC gamers aren't going to suddenly dump their rigs to get their hands on a Steam Machine nor will console gamers. I would argue that SteamOS might make a dent because it's a free OS and Vulkan is a platform-agnostic API. But Steam Machines? Definitely not.

Nah.....it wont even make a dent to the console market.

The hardware makers will be fighting amongst themselves for competition and pricing.

A lot of those Steam machines are using mobile graphics chips.  There was a time when nvidia let you upgrade mobile graphic cards.  Bring that idea back and let me put them into desktops.  A high end mobile graphic card is pretty powerful, cheap and energy efficient.  I'd love to make a small desktop using that kind of power.
