Yeah I'd never pay that much for these things, but those are the costs without contract subsidies. Somehow there is a market of people that gobbles these electronics up.

I do something similarly with my iPhone. When I upgrade, I don't upgrade to the latest model. I go for the one before so I only have to pay $99.

What I do is just never upgrade haha. Didn't get a smartphone until two years ago.

iPhones cost $1000 and up here and yet they sell like crazy.
Samsung Galaxies cost a similar amount but maybe slightly less and sell well too
