got notified that talos principle 2 is pre-orderable and just took a look.   is this not a full game?!?!  why is it only $30 full price??  even "half" games are running 40/50 these day.   TBH,.. i would have payed $70.

Starting to get interested in Lords of the Fallen coming out this week.

The original looks very generic to me, and it got bad reviews.  




The new one looks like it might be a competent Dark Souls game:




Sounds like it might not be good though. But I'm cautiously keeping an eye on it.

I feel like there's weird mixed pessimism/optimism about game development. It might be fanboy related.  

Sometimes there's a lot of skepticism of games ever coming out.  

Kitler was joking here, but it's a relatively common sentiment:

ND's game was "canceled" so they might not have anything for another 6 years.

On the other end of it, I saw people being skeptical about Sony x From Software game on a basis of "if it's real, why isn't it out yet?"

game development is like pretty legit 6 year cycles these days.  if not 6 than at least 4.   so if ND's mp game is canceled and they weren't already working on another title before it got canceled i don't see why we should expect anything from them any time soon.   i suppose they could have been working on 2 games at the same time but afaik we don't have any definitive evidence to know that.

and if you ignore ports and remasters (which i do) ND's recent output has been:
- TLoU 2 - 2022
- Lost Legacy - 2017
- U4 - 2016
- Left behind 2014
- TLoU - 2013

TLoU MP probably should have been 2024.   at this point i'd say that's not going to happen.   so like,.. ND's next game is likely 2028 accounting for typical development cycles and lost time for working on a canceled project.

so excluding TLoU mp (whether it ships or not),.. when do you think ND ships their next game?

i'm 100% that it is far enough out to not even get an announcement by EoY 2024.

I think 2025 is unlikely, but probably more likely than 2028.
