examples?

Every game ever.

Linear games are great cause you know where to go, and they can do cool things as a result. A wide linear is fine for battle areas, but that's really it.

So they should just keep following ND's example and do their own TLoU/UC4

Uncharted 1, 2, and 3 were also just as wide as tlou and u4. ND has just got better at it.

Wut? But they already said UC4 will have larger environments with more ways to play than UC1-3 o.O

I think it depends on the game.
Some games could do it, IMO.
Others would be awful.

They've yet to show that. From the footage we saw at PSX, it looks like the previous games. Done better, but still like the previous games.

Just saw the chapter menu selection..

Spoiler for Hidden:
It has 18 chapters. Or, using their numericals, a prologue, 16 chapters and an epilogue.

So even if every chapter only lasted 30 minutes outside of failures then you still have a 9 hour game. Pretty sure we can all agree that there will be more than a few chapters which last longer than that.

Facepalm

Also on topic of the open world thing, I believe they are more looking into creating bigger "arenas" so to speak for you to battle in, to give players more options for each given situation, think the Uncharted 4 demo, something like that more or less.

The review embargo lifts February 19th at 8am EST. A day before the game releases.

dang the misinformation. Also sony expects the ps4 to run VR because of the break out box that will assist with frame rate and other things to take load off thr ps4.

Calling it now. Even though we know the game isn't as short as these bs "rumours", there'll still be a reviewer(s) that'll want to capitalize on the controversy and use, for their review of the game, the headline "Size matters". Easy way of getting loads of hits.

like you said, linear is great at providing direction and purpose.  in general i like linear games.   however,. choice is sometimes nice too.  i really like tomb raider and what naughty dog is doing with uncharted 4 in terms of being somewhat opened linear gameplay.  i think it strikes a great balance.  metroid prime did a good job of it too actually.

having not played the order 1886 i don't know how linear things are.   ..but if they are extremely linear than i'd be all for a bit more openness.

Look at this shame lmao...Posted 7 hours ago - http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/2vr5kd/the_order_1886_then_vs_now/

Really now you're going to use a shot of the game that was shown on Twitch like 5-6 months ago and then do a comparison on it?

This type of shame really pisses me off. People spreading misinformation.
Legend made me remove this. Everybody riot.

I noticed that some of the youtubers spreading the 3 hour bs rumour are playing Evolve in their video. I wonder why *rolleyes*
