German site Die Welt has revealed new information on the opening of Watch_Dogs and Aiden's background.

According to the site, Watch_Dogs begins with "bloody torture" and the game's opening is said to have a "brutal tone". Aiden and his fellow hackers had closed in on a hostile organisation which now wants to teach him a lesson he won't soon forget. An assassin named Maurice is hired by this group and kills Aiden's niece Lena, nephew Jackson, and sister Nicole.

Seeking revenge, Aiden pursues Maurice to a stadium and once the assassin has been dealt with, our protagonist uses his hacking abilities to overload cameras in the vicinity and escapes.

Aiden enters parkour mode with the touch of a button but Die Welt said the controls were somewhat "spongy" during their preview which proved annoying. One ability Aiden has is to scan an environment using security cameras before entering the area, the advantage of this is that it allows you to see where guards are and track them through walls in a similar fashion to Eagle Vision in Assassin's Creed or Detective Mode in the Arkham games.

There's plenty more on the game in Die Welt's preview though Google Translate's conversion isn't perfect. Still, it will give you a good idea of what to expect when Watch_Dogs launches on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on May 27th.

One of the things I hope they accomplish with this game is that it is the slick feel of a game about technology but they also mix it with grit. I don't want this game to be all "clean".

I'm not sure too much grit would be a good thing though. I'm really looking forward to the technology side of the game and too much grit could ruin it a bit.

I'll have to see it for myself before saying if it's good or not.

Doubt it'll be good though.

Confirmed: Legend is into torture.

If the torture scene is done well and adds to the game, then yes.
