Are you questioning the unprecedented-ness?

Plenty of gamers feel that this is a contender for the best year ever for games.

Resetera:
How are we feeling about 2023 as an all time great year for gaming?

I'm starting to think 2023 might be the greatest year in history for gaming.

2023 has the potential to be one of the best years in gaming.

So 2023 is going to go down as one of the best years ever for gaming, right?

So 2023 seems to be one of the best years of gaming...

The greatness of 2023 is palpable to even me now

Capitalism is the only thing that allows video games of this scale to exist  :o

"One of the best years" is by definition not unprecedented lol.

I think you're using a different definition....

It's unprecedented if it wasn't expected to be the best.

Is there even another definition? People of course can use it loosely like if it's been decades but what do you mean with expectations?

Sorry I'm wrong on this.

For some reason I felt like it was more used like "an unexpectedly big deal". In a weird sense of like something big happened before it was thought of. I know that sounds dumb.

But honestly, I feel like that usage fits every example sentence Merriam-Webster gives better than the definition they give....

I don't think someone would say "I had my first milkshake. It was unprecedented." So I feel like the literal definition misses some nuance.

I know this is dumb, I'll see myself out.

It sounds like Bungie let go of Michael Salvatori.

Composer at Bungie throughout Myth, Halo and Destiny. Sounds like a huge deal.

I don't really understand the timing. MS becomes 4x bigger than them development wise, and Sony starts cutting staff?

Very odd. They had drama with Marty so maybe it has something to do with that.

Either way, Halo had some of the best music.

Someone just shared lots of terrible reviews from Firesprite, it doesn't paint a good picture.

BananaKing

dang. I forgot Sony even bought that studio

Legend

No bueno.

They don't have a great history of games so they def needed a glow up to fit with Sony, but sounds like the opposite could be happening.

the-pi-guy

Doesn't seem like Sony is necessarily the one mismanaging the studio.
But the people that were put in charge are apparently terrible.

One of the reviews made a comment about how "the new CEO actually seems human" in a positive way...

So hopefully they start turning things around.

Paul Tassi, apparently a Forbes journalist, who posted about Bungie layoffs just before Jason did; puts it squarely on Bungie and not SIE.

QuoteTD Cowen analyst Doug Creutz wrote in a report Monday that "events over the last few days lead us to believe that PlayStation is undergoing a restructuring."
