hmm... honestly I think the Xbox one is the only system that will stay the same as last month... I expect both PS4 and Wii U to see a boost in May NPD as Watchdogs and MK8 should give a boost. I think Watch Dogs will also boost Xone sales enough to offset any drop due to incoming price drop. I don't think the Titanfall bundle and price drop incoming prior to Titanfall release date decreased xone sales as they were actually quite improved prior to titanfall release in spite of a better deal being available for pre-order.

Hype from people who already own a Wii U?
Only 2-3m people own a WiiU in the US. I don't think that's all of the MK fans.
Heck, even TF managed to boost X1 (an artificial boost) and that's a MP and we assumed everyone had got an X1 for it before it launched anyway

Oh yeah forgot out mk so 150 percent boost

Wouldn't be surprised to see Xbox One tank hard in May as people wait for the cheaper SKU. I am surprised at the consumer awareness I have seen that this price drop is coming.

I doubt it will tank as some are expecting. Titanfall bundle xone for $50 didn't cause the xone sales to tank before that was released. So I don't think that the new sku will have that much affect either. Although titanfall was a bigger deal for xone than watch dogs so we'll have to wait and see

I beg to differ, I think it's all the Mario Kart fans in the U.S.  Plus there's a more likely hood of someone buying an X1 over a Wii U.

In May? Don't think so, given the impending price cut

I guess I hinted that the X1 is gonna outsell the Wii U in May, didn't realize that.  What I was trying to get to is that it's more likely that someone who doesn't own a PS4, X1, Wii U are going to go into a store and pick up an X1 (or a PS4) over a Wii U.  They're not gonna see Mario Kart and choose it over Call of Duty, Infamous or TitanFall.  If they walk into a store to pick up Mario Kart, it's because they already have a Wii U.

I think Wii U will have its best month in a long time and Xbox One will have its worst month in a long time, but I doubt Wii U will beat Xbox One. Price cut news isn't going to have that big of a negative impact on sales. People have had the opportunity to get the system plus kinect plus Titanfall for $450. Also if the price drop wasn't announced, who would be buying it this month? Gamers who are ok with spending more for Kinect. I doubt much of these people will go "I was planning to buy it with Kinect and Titanfall for $450, but now I'll wait a month and lose Titanfall+Kinect just to save $50." The price cut will hopefully do a good job bringing in new gamers, but I don't see it convincing the current fanbase to hold off.

With Wii U, MK just comes out too late in the month. Its June should be much larger than its May. If I had to bet on it, I'd say Wii U<Xbox One in May but Wii U>Xbox One in June.

Yeah but it's Mario Kart...people will buy WiiU's for it.

yeah but that's when the new sku comes out for Xone so I dunno if WiiU can outsell it in June... if MS does a decent job @ e3 the hype for xone should bring their sales back up to 150k in june

But Xbox One and PS4 are in direct competition. Microsoft could have the best show in history, but it'd have minimal impact if a few hours later Sony's show is even better. I mean look at last E3. Game wise and what not, Microsoft killed it. Didn't do squat.

i think the price cut will have its effect mostly on the more casual/mass market consumers. the ones who enter the store not knowing much about either console, mostly just their names. previously they say PS4 for 399$ and XB1 for 499$ so PS4 immediately won. not they are on the same playing field, so it will surely make more people consider which one to buy.

Seems like Kinect Sports Rivals sold less than 65k.
