I wish I could, we're not very well off we just spend our savings on holidays ;D

A lot of Americans don't like spending their savings on traveling to foreign countries when there is already a lot to see around here. Especially considering most Americans I know would prefer to go to foreign places more expensive than they'd like them to be and with significant language differences. Americans typically need a better reason to leave the country than, "I want to experience culture". Though if you guys started promoting something like, "Americans! Come to our country! You'll get laid easily!" then you might see us there more often. Or tell us you have oil. That seems to work.

How much is a trip to Spain for you?
Since my Dad's wife lives in Spain anyways its not very much for him to take us there. That's why we go so often, its cheap. Flights are about  £100 return depending on the time of year then he just pays extra food costs for us being there. If we ever go away somewhere in Spain (which we have done quite a lot too) then he uses his time share which he bough when he still had his good job, so that doesn't cost much either.

Another point I should make is that my Mum and Dad split when I was 1, so I've had at least 2 holidays a year for my whole life. Usually my mum takes me somewhere in the UK but occasionally elsewhere (France, Turkey from that list). My Dad takes me to Spain and often elsewhere too (the other places on the list) thanks to his time share. I went to Italy on a school trip

See, traveling around Europe is like traveling around the US as far as distance and cost. Now tell me you've been to the US as many times as you've been elsewhere in Europe and we'll talk. From where I live, Ohio, a flight to Alaska or even Hawaii would be like you traveling outside of Europe. It's far less time consuming and costly for me to travel around my own country than it would be for me to go halfway across the world. Also, I think we need an international coalition to build a big man-made island state in the middle of the Atlantic. We'll call it Atlantis 2.0. It will be a neutral state, tourist hot spot, and the halfway point for most travelers on this side of the globe.

Yup, but you've only got yourself to blame for being American! Atlantis 2.0 sounds cool, I'll ask the aliens if it could work.

I guess it costs like 400-600$ to go from WI to AK.
On 150$, about the same as the UK-> Spain trip in US dollars.
That much would probably only get me to Canada.  That's it.

You got some expensive flights over there. Manchester to Spain is a 2 hour 10 minute flight, how much would a flight of that length cost over there?

According to Google I could book that next week with a return flight 2 weeks later for £68, or $103

Let me put it to you this way. For me to fly from Columbus, Ohio to Manchester, United Kingdom one way at the end of next month would cost me about $1,500, require two stops, and take 13 hours.

Gosh, you guys need to explore the world more!

I've been to France three times, Spain at least ten times, places in the UK many times, Italy, Turkey, Ibiza twice, Majorca, Tenerife and America (Florida) twice and going back this year. I'd have to say Rome is my favourite city which I have visited. Beautiful architecture and so much to see! I really want to see more of America in the future, I'd love to go to Germany as well to use my German knowledge. As well as many other places! dang, the World is so big

Is this a challenge?

I've been to Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, California, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Texas, New Mexico, Wyoming, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina,North Carolina, Florida, Virginia, Maryland, and DC.

Outside of the US I've been to Canada, Nassau + other islands in the Bahamas, Haiti, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Paris, London, Nice, Monaco, Rome, Milan, Venice, Barcelona, Salzburg, Interlaken Switzerland, Frankfurt, Bruges, Copenhagen, Lund Sweden, Lucerne, Liechtenstein, Munich, Luxembourg, Brussels, Ghent, and Vatican City.

That is ridiculously expensive! I can get to a return to most places in Europe for less than a few hundred dollars. I think our flights to Florida in the summer are a few hundred pounds each, return. My Dad paid for them with his air miles though

Yeah. A lot of people from outside the US make the mistake of assuming our travel costs are low. You should see what they are closer to the holidays. The ticket price might as well say, "Apply this lube and don't clench".

Lol, fair enough. It seems stupid that the prices are so much, when everything in America is so spread out. Around here there's major cities and Towns packed all over the place, so you don't need to travel very far to go to meetings etc. and the prices are dead cheap.

At least you guys get amazingly fast internet speeds!

Even though its not allowed I wanna give a shout out to London :P

DD_Bwest

well ive only been outside north america twice, and both to the same spot lol   so im going to put Bridgetown/Oistons  in Barbados.  When you combine the sun, the beach, the water, the food, the relaxing atmosphere and plenty of booze, you cant go wrong.

Plus we all know Vancouver is the greatest city in the world, but its not foreign to me lol
