This looks really cool, but I am a little disappointed about how the planets are super micro sized and leaving/reentering the atmosphere takes 2 seconds.

It's outstanding for its scale but the problem I keep having with it is.... what do I do other than just marvel at the scale? Star Citizen is not only pushing visuals but it will have many different things I can do in the game across a galaxy they will actively expand and encourage me to explore. Now I understand we're talking about two very different goals, teams, accessibility, and funding but I just can't help but feel like I'd play the game for a few minutes and then not ever bother again. For as much as people complain about games like Until Dawn and Heavy Rain being "interactive movies" I'd rather play those than something that is only making me sit there and go, "Alright, time to explore untamed world number 583 for no reason just like all the others".

*gives an internet hi five*

My problem with No Man's Sky is that I am a huge fan of this genre of game, so I'm hyper critical of it.

Like I want a realistic space/universe game, not one that just plays to the publics flawed misconceptions. Take the planet size in NMS as an example. Everyone online is talking about how big and awesome the universe is, but these planets are flipping small!!! In one of the demo videos the planet had large boulders visible from space that were also visible from the planet surface.

Using eyeball math, the circumference of the planet is about 250 miles. It's eyeball math so huge margin of error, but that's super tiny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Earth's circumference is 25,000 miles! Heck Pluto's circumference is 5,000 miles and that's not even big enough to be a planet anymore!!!

Maybe in the final game this'll be different, but in every video we've seen so far all the planets are microscopic.

A lot of the talk of scale that I've heard, and what I'm referring to myself, is going from underwater to land to atmo to space seamlessly and then looking at the sheer number of star systems to go to. Just the sense of size that gives you. The number of planets and the diversity of them is impressive. I just want something to do, though. I can only look at a pretty woman for so long before I have a burning desire to interact with her, if you know what I mean, and this game feels like it's dangling a very good looking girl in front of us but always keeping her outside our reach.

there is shooting and combat,  i think they said you can even raid supply ships and stuff.  They also mentioned something about an objective at the center of the galaxy that will bring closure, but they dont want to force that down peoples throats.   Im excited but nervous for this one

Did they talk about that at PlayStation Experience? Because I seem to recall Sean Murray stating that there really wouldn't be any combat and that the game was about exploration. Unless I just need to actually watch the video later. I can't right now. At work.

I cant remember exactly, ill track it down though when I get home. I could have sworn I heard about combat.

Yeah I heard that too, but they maybe changed the game's direction.
