Like seriously that whole gameplay demo just felt so much like the new Tomb Raider game.

Openish world on an abandoned/evil island? Check.

Pickaxe that sticks in to rocks with that texture. Check.

Seeing things pop up with interaction icons like that. Check.

Sliding down then jumping. Check.

Hooking in to stuff like tree branches. Check.

And I'm only focusing on the stuff from the new tomb raider game.

Naughty Clones confirmed.

Not sure if you're trying to take a jab at Naughty Dog or just factually pointing something out.

Regardless, I don't think it really matters. A huge part of the industry is and has been, as it is for pretty much anything else, taking someone else's idea and finding a way to make it work for your project. Uncharted has been known since Day 1 as a Tomb Raider clone. The things you've pointed out were found in other games as well. Pointing out now that a Tomb Raider clone is using Tomb Raider ideas in the 4th game of the franchise is a little silly.

My problem with it is that the new tomb raider game did all these things to make it branch out and not be considered an Uncharted clone, and then the new uncharted is adding in all these things and making it incredibly similar to the new tomb raider. Yeah some things in the OP are minor that wouldn't matter if they were the only similarities, but as a collection of similarities it's just too much for me. Watching the gameplay it felt like the new tomb raider game, seriously.

Naughty Dog is better than this. I bet the final game will not have any problems, but this little glimpse of it just felt really "knock offy" to me. Every new mechanic or feature(except hiding in the bush, wow so original) is found in the new tomb raider game. It's fine to put innovation aside and add features that make it a better game, but these generic features shouldn't be the big selling points.

Naughty Dog is better than that? The original Uncharted was a straight up clone to the Tomb Raider franchise to begin with and there were no real changes to Uncharted made by Naughty Dog in the two sequels for PS3. The biggest changes came when Sony Bend got their hands on the Vita game. Though those changes were mostly made to take advantage of the Vita's features.

Naughty Dog hasn't exactly written the book on gameplay innovation lately. What they've been known for in their last four games, including The Last of Us, was refining mostly old mechanics and putting them into highly polished games with emotional stories and compelling characters with a cinematic experience that beats most movies. It is better for them to take ideas from other games to improve the experience than to allow the games to remain, mechanically, exactly as they had been. If not, the only other option is to try new things that might not work.

If something Tomb Raider did was clearly good then of course they're going to use it. That is the franchise that inspired Uncharted in the first place and it's dang sure something I would do. Many of the best games ever made took ideas from others who just came out in order to make the game what it was. Tomb Raider and Uncharted are competitors. Are we not going to complain how Crystal Dynamics made the Tomb Raider franchise more grounded, its story better, and its characters more compelling after Uncharted was clearly doing it better?

It's not like climbing a wall with a pick/pickaxe or rope swinging or being able to hide in bushes was ever original in any game.  They just are not the first to do it.  By the looks of it though, Uncharted 4's new mechanics shame all over Tomb Raiders mechanics by a long shot.

You could say it's ripping off god of war's blade wall climbing too since it's essentially doing the same thing.
