I feel like if I saw that title, I would assume it was a spam thread, maybe. Something different, I know.

What are some house/appliance/life purchases that you have made, that made a surprising impact on your quality of life?

Air filters/purifiers are awesome.

Also bought a Tineco ifloor wet/dry vacuum. Surprisingly great.

Air fryer. So much faster than heating up the oven for a small batch of food.

i'm going to take this as other people would be surprised to hear my answer more than i am surprised.  i know myself very well and i don't buy things just to see if maybe i would like them.   that said i have maybe a few objects in my life that i value greatly that perhaps others would not.

cheese slicer
laser level  (this one isn't what i actually use but i didn't find it quickly.  close enough).

I bought those things expecting to like them, but it's more than that.

The floor cleaner for example went from "I expect this to be a good, helpful thing" to "I really don't want to go without it". And we got one for my parents and in-laws, it felt like an obvious thing for us to get for them.
