K2-18b exoplanet seems to have alien life

No like it really does seem to have alien life.

Probably doesn't, because aliens would be too cool, but right now our only explanaition of the data is alien life.


Still a slim possibility the data is flawed. It's not 5 sigma yet.

Bigger possibility that there is an unknown way way for these chemicals to be made, but the concentration of the biosignature is very high. Thousands of times higher concentration than Earth even.


So yeah, seems to have alien life (but probably doesn't because that would be too cool).

Venus is still being verified. Today's discovery will similarly go through years of double, triple, and quadruple checking.



But this exoplanet is about a different chemical and a very different set of circumstances. And with it being so far away, it's practically impossible for it to be a distant cousin of Earth life.

Venus and Mars might genuinely have life but if it's just Earth microbes that got launched there from massive impacts, it's far less alien.


(and again, I don't expect it to actually have life. That'd be too cool)
