Huh, why so underpowered when docked? It has a fan!

Would have been cool to see something exotic. Like put DLSS hardware in the dock. Even if it doesn't really make sense.

Maybe because it doesn't even matter?

Games need to first and formost work when undocked.  When docked does it really need to do anything more than boost resolution?   Likely not.  Especially to a nintendo gamer that is used to decades old tech being "new".

so trump caved and "reciprocal" tarriffs are "paused for 90 days".   90 days is at least on the far side of switch 2's scheduled launch.  however the 10% WW tariff is still in place.   also china tariff has increased to 125%.   my understanding is most of nintendo's consoles are made in china but they moved some of their stuff to other countries.

what's the over/under on:

1. will nintendo raise the cost from the previously communicated $450?

2. will nintendo divert stock to other markets thus making it impossible for kitler53 to make his son's birthday a good one?

i really, really miss the days what i had no idea what the president was doing because it didn't F'ing matter...

Quote from: Legend on Apr 07, 2025, 03:35 PMI'm that way too with sony. PS4 Sony was so smart. PS5 Sony is best to just be happy with what you get.

I wonder if I'll ever get a switch 2. I have practically not touched my switch. Tears of the kingdom, luigi's mansion 3, animal crossing, and super smash bros. Only games I believe I have played on it.
I only bought a PS5 for the 30th anniversary edition.  I wasn't planning to get one otherwise.  Other reason I got it cause I felt like it was the end, like, my last Playstation.  Same grey as the first one I got.

i watched the mario kart direct 8 minutes back from live.   i guess we'll see how it feels when played but it very much just looks like mario kart.   the open world bit seems soo diminished when races have you follow an set track anyways.   not exactly sure what else i could have wanted here but it doesn't feel like much of a change up to the series.

anways, mario kart was always fun.   i haven't had a nintendo system since wii and my kids have never had one so i'm not "upset" that the game hasn't been drastically changed.   just an observation i guess.

I mean that's Nintendo for you.

I think the new Mario Kart is a relatively drastic change for them, new modes and in between races.

But Nintendo isn't generally the one to make crazy new games.

i mean, sometimes they go crazy.   wii sports.  wii fit.   labo.  splatoon even maybe.

...but once they have a title that's working they just sort of re-release it once a generation so that you don't quite notice they haven't actually done anything much to improve things.

good-ish for me i guess.   have a feeling that like the ps5, this is the cheapest switch 2 will ever be and there will be price increases over the course of the generation.
