TIL that Newtonian physics is non deterministic (aka broken mathematically, not just as a model for the world)

You can design a hill with a specific curve so that a ball rolled to the top will stop at the top with zero velocity in a finite amount of time.

Therefore if you come on this scene after the fact, you have no mathematical way to reverse it. Has the ball always been stationary on the top of the hill, or did it roll up there from a certain direction?

The harder to follow thing is that you can't mathematically determine the future either. Will it always stay stationary at the top, or will it roll down at a random time in a random direction? There is no external force to cause it to start moving, and yet mathematically it does not need an external force to start moving.
