sorry but i just need to take a second to rank.   I'm in excel trying to make a simple f'ing chart.  I have x-values and i y-values.   instead of allowing me to just specify my input MS is trying to "make things easy by guessing what i want" and the logic if f'ing stupid as heck.   in excel 2003 it would have taken me 5 seconds to make this stupid chart.   i've been working for an hour now to try and get MS to fudgy display the data correctly.

F'ck you MS
F'ck you AI
F'ck you half-implemented cloud SaaS offerings.
F'ck you "your data is too complex to be charted" error message.

That's pretty lame. The auto tools tend to be nice but it should always be trivial to decline them.

Have you tried google sheets? That's what I've used for years and they have a lot fewer features which might be what works for you.

I eventually got it.

I half thought about splitting the data into 5 to put it into a format simple enough even MS could understand it.

...but it wasn't my data.  it was someone else's data share with me via the cloud.

so I said "f'ck it" and I just copied the data into a spreadsheet saved to my desktop.   with a full/local version of Excel I was able to bang out the charts in a few minutes and then emailed it back to my colleague.

the problem for the cloud version of Excel was the data was not entirely co-located.  I needed to chart every 5th column with every other trend using either the top or bottom of the data set.

I get it's not "standard" but give me some freaking options besides "which columns are your data in?"
