Probably just a mistake by gamestop, but it could make sense. Have xbox just refer to the actual box.

I see era is now beyond denial and grief and onto bargaining.

Seems the EU is going to pass a law requiring sony to put gamepass on ps5.

I'm getting waaay to much entertainment out of this whole debacle.

Really funny how many people think Sony need to "return the favor" and put playstation games on xbox.

Also I've been binging various old "xbox screwed up" videos and its funny how they have aged.

The one officially posted by xbox is mostly an ad about how much better they are now, but it has aged poorly.

kitler53

the "return the favor" is just coping. obviously it won't happen,.. Sony and MS are competitors not friends.

Yeah this isn't happening. PS has been dominant in EU for 2 decades. EU won't do a dang thing because its the status quo.

this is speculation not rumor but an interesting perspective:

in my "senarios" above i figured xbox XS would be able to maintain the status quo at least until the end of the generation even in the most doomer senario.    but if publishers look at XS as not a platform of ~27 million but rather 2 platforms of ~13.5 million each (with the series S difficult to develop for) than yeah i guess i could really see 3rd party pulling out quickly.

Not quite overnight.   Dragon's Dogma is out in 2 weeks and has 0% chance of not shipping on xbox imo.   ...but GTA IV is "2025" which may mean ~2 years from now especially if there are any delays.   so like,.. could TT pull out on that?    :o

I think at this point MS is pretty iced for a while.  I think they will eventually pull through and be fine, but likely not after a ton of layoffs and closures because of their incompetence.  Which is sad to think for anyone that would be affected.  However them getting their dog handed to them over this is hopefully what they need to realize they can't just fudge around and do what they want.

Also with all this news its quite funny how so many xbox fanboys were spouting the "fudge around and find out" crud when sony was trying to stop the acti deal from going through and now MS basically iced around and found out they aren't the top dog they thought they were.

MS will be just fine.   xbox could be nuked from orbit on monday and MS's gaming would still be financially better than ever as the world's 2nd largest 3rd party publisher in control of several of the top franchises in gaming.    lot's of console owners would be angry but this would be MS:

hell, even i would be angry to a certain extent.  i think you can see from the mass layoffs at Toys for Bob that MS isn't interested in funding smaller projects anymore.   i don't personally care about how well it would have sold,.. the world is a worse place if that rumored spyro 4 is canceled.

Yeah I'd be concerned at the smaller studios like compulsion and ninja theory about future projects.

Xbox series will still get the vast majority of ports. Porting is cheaper than ever and publishers have no reason to ignore the extra income.

Most publishers also don't want a 1 console future since that gives Sony a lot more power over them. Publishers won't subsidize xbox but they won't try to kill it either.

Yeah I don't think MS or their gaming itself will be iced in terms of finances.  But I think there will be a ton of turmoil with all the studios they have now, that it will take a bit for them to get things to a spot that is stable.

definitely.

hellblade 2 is the perfect console exclusive game.   as a platform owner it diversifies your line-up. it functions as a showcase because it's soo pretty.  it excites those core gamers that sing your praises on social.

...but it was never going to be huge success financially.   therefore it doesn't make sense for a non-platform owner to create this sort of game.

been in back-to-back meetings all morning.   do we still not have a date/time for the business update?

would they just "shadow drop" the announcement?   in my head that wouldn't mean good things for existing xbox owners.
