Quote from: Horizon on May 02, 2024, 02:38 PMForza Horizon 5 makes the most sense to me.
how "live service" is that game?

much like i don't really care that helldivers 2 is on PC day-1 but I would be upset with GoW:R going to PC day-1 I think it makes the most sense for MS to start with any service games.

as a consumer I have 2 (somewhat conflicting) priorities:
- i invested in a platform and I want/need to see the platform owner doing something to ensure it's long term viability.   that means exclusives.
- i invested in a game-as-a-platform and I want/need to see the platform owner doing something to ensure it's long term viability.   that means as multi-plat as possible.

QuoteIn his Discord, Jez was more chatty:

- All Xbox first-party games coming to PlayStation, even Forza, Halo
- Xbox will be more Steam-like in the future
- Affordable prices, sales, more open for devs
- Future Xbox-Hardware gonna be for fans who want it
- Xbox hardware will be niche like Steam Deck
- Next Xbox will side-load Steam
- "I don't think they expect to ever grow in hardware"

he said "Nobody wanted to give Xbox a chance, so this is what they get with a Sony monopoly"

This is apparently "Jez's opinion".

Not sure if it means anything.

it's really annoying how "it's everyone else" these xbots are.     most of xbox's problems are xbox's failing.
1. failing to invest in 1st party for decades
2. too US/UK centric
3. chasing fads with kinect making for a very confusing target audience
4. failing to invest in 1st party for decades
5. always online DRM with xbox one
6. committing to day-1 PC massively devaluing their platform
7. failing to invest in 1st party for decades
8. announcing games too soon with a CGI trailer that hasn't even started development and canceling quite a few of them
9. failing to invest in 1st party for decades
10. finally investing in 1st party by acquiring a bunch of studios on the brink of collapse and expecting that they will suddenly make amazing games to attract customers.

Steam on xbox would be great. I have a steam link to play games on the couch but it'd be much simpler to just run them on xbox.

What the heck would that mean for xbox though? Xbox store would be pointless to maintain when the vast majority of players are just playing gamepass games or steam games.

I don't think it happens unless they buy Valve or work together to make a unified store and community.

It's also pretty funny since xbox used to be hugely successful/popular. Nearly matching PS3 in sales sure is giving them a chance.

It's not live service but it has a lot of events and dlc. I think it makes sense and would do a lot better than a Forza Motorsport port.

QuoteThe games that are under consideration of coming to PlayStation per Tom Warren:
Age of Empires 2 DE
Age of Mythology
Starfield
DOOM: The Dark Ages
Hellblade II
Halo: Combat Evolved Remastered (Halo 1 port)

Why the pc rts games? Are they good on console?

Bring starfield so the internet can stop hating it  :P

I think starfield and hellblade 2 desperately need to be on ps5. Ninja theory is toast if not

PS5 didn't save Tango, not sure if a port would be enough for Ninja.

hellblade will bomb on ps5 as well.   not sure if ninja theory is toast or not,.. probably mostly depends on if MS wants any further reductions in headcount.   ninja theory is quite probably MS's worst studio.   not sure why they even bothered to acquire them in the first place.

from that list i think doom is the only one i care about.   doom has always been multiplat and i'd like it to stay that way.   the reason i was soo angry about bethesda/activision acquisitions was all the titles that have been on ps5 for decades getting removed from playstation.   it's infuriating to even think about.

i'm not going to be "upset" if halo makes its way to playstation but i kind of don't want it unless MS fully pulls out of hardware.   i like the idea that each ecosystem has it's exclusives and identity.   halo is xbox so unless MS goes full 3rd party (ala sega) i kind of hope they keep that for themselves.   if it did get ported i'd likely buy it.   i'd feel dirty has hell as i did it though.

...the other games i just flat out don't give a sheet about.

honestly i generally don't give a sheet about many of the traditionally exclusive games to xbox (aka excluding recently aquired 3rd party properties).   the only things that would really excite me is ori and fable.  nothing else is really my thing.

That's true. I feel like the pivot to putting things on ps5 would help ninja more since it released after the decision.

But nothing is for certain anyway since the game wasn't super hyped and no one's even talking about it now.

I don't know if xbox people are talking about it. The mods shut down r/xboxseriesx the day it released lol.

The numbers sure are bad though. It cost way more than Hi Fi Rush to make yet it has done worse in every measurable way. It has probably sold ~half as much on steam.

No way. 343i has had to throw away and reboot Halo after every single release.

r/halo - a black and white sign

This meme needs to be updated with their quotes about Halo Infinite's mistakes.

Wow just a 6 month exclusive window? That's really bad.

Indiana Jones is a known brand so maybe that impacts things but this game was never on PlayStation. If it's coming over then what won't come over? Starfield certainly will happen once it gets enough updates for the internet to like it.

good thing I have a shame ton of games this winter that I can easily wait till it comes to ps5 next year

The wild thing is that Microsoft amended the contract to have it be exclusive

QuoteLast year we learned during the FTC v. Microsoft case that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was originally planned for multiple consoles. Pete Hines, Bethesda's former head of global publishing, testified that Disney had a contract for multiple consoles and that the deal was amended to be an Xbox console exclusive after Microsoft acquired Bethesda.

They probably paid money to amend the contract, and now they're practically doing it anyway.
