Its moments like these that remind me why it is such a shameful thing to tell a regular person you're a gamer.

well sony caved.   kind of happy kind of disappointed.

happy because i do find it annoying to create accounts with all sorts of publishers.

disappointed because i know this will do nothing to discourage all of the other publishers from doing this practice.   at no point will the mob go after MS for requiring accounts on all version of minecraft or diablo, ect.  it's only sony that will now not be allowed to require account linking not just in helldivers but in any game.   the mob is already foaming for GoT:Legends.

like it or not this handicap sony a lot in the investment side of the world.   this decision probably lost them billions long term.

~100k negative reviews have switched to positive, so that's great.

Soo amazing.  ... everyone figured it would flop or I guess be a very small success pre-release too.

I just hope the community sticks around for years.  I'm playing less now than at release but I still play a few missions every week.

It seems to be holding a good player base so far. I think with more updates, specially new enemy factions, mission types, and customisation they will hold on to a good number of player base for years to come.

yeah.  pretty good at least.   it's been drifting down a bit which isn't entirely great in context of apparently this is doing really great "evergreen" sales meaning of those playing the game today at least some of them are brand new to the game.

i don't care about any specific player counts but i could jump into a game of rocket league today (~10 post release) without any problems.   i hope i can do that with helldivers too.

Wow great for them. I loved the reveal trailer and it had some good metrics, but that's just crazy. Never would have expected it to beat everything else.

Sony must be all gas for gaas again. Fairgame will flop, concord and marathon could go either way (we need to see gameplay), and maybe Horizon mp will do great.

Wonder if Sony uncancels tlou mp.

i don't want to doom any of sony's GaaS games after the unexpected hit of helldivers.    Fairgame very well may be amazing and a surprise huge hit...

...but "monster hunter" horizon has the clearest potential to be another break out hit.   i really liked and hated monster hunter at the same time.   i would love for a monster hunter-esque game but one that is just less stupid.

Official apology from the devs for something.

I guess Helldivers 2 has been struggling. Saw something about players purposefully losing an in game event as a protest.

New update pushed the game to 68k concurrent players, the most it has had since June https://steamdb.info/app/553850/charts/#6m

Please happen. I hate all the dumb fake microtransactions that just turn games into fortnite, but this would be so amusing to see realized.

kitler53

obvious joke that obviously wouldn't work.

i'm fine with the killzone one because killzone looks like it fits right into the helldivers universe.   i would hate to see other properties like spiderman make it's way into helldivers.

these games are in a weird spot these days.  it's no longer okay to sell things like map packs because it fractures the user base.   it's not okay for weapons or armor because the game will get slammed for being "pay to win".  so people expect more and more and more content to be created and the only thing customers are okay with being sold are cosmetics.

...i don't exactly agree with it makes everything "look like fortnight".   why are people acting like fortnight has the monopoly on cosmetic items.  this tactic has been around for much longer than fortnight existed.  i was paying for cosmetics in LBP 10 years before fortnight released.

I mean it literally looks like fortnite. I saw gameplay of the new cod and I thought it was fortnite with lightsabers, superheroes, great apes, etc.

Helldivers with Killzone is fun. It fits and I am happy about it. Spiderman and RCT would suck and ruin the game.

(as a huge RCT fan though I really want it to be memed into existence)
