I'm playing Terra Invicta again and while it's cool, it's just too dang much.

I'm waging a war to take over China and the aliens are bombing my Moon base. I could build a space gunship on Mars but I don't know how to get the materials over there.

I should have sided with the aliens.

Legend

I tried to capture an alien, but my agent died  :'(

Combat is crazy cool, never seen anything like it for a space game. All the ships have momentum and fly around like real space ships, kinda like the expanse.

Why is this game a mile wide and a mile deep, yet still so slow and kinda boring? I think I wish it had more automation as I progressed. That way the pace could speed up as I manage more and more stuff.

Legend

Somehow I glitched the game and deleted the UI. First time that's happened.

60 hours, finally finished.

I cheated a lot to speed up the gameplay. Science x1,000 and America with a $100 trillion GDP was great. Then the game crashed and then steam forced an update that deleted my cheats, so I finished the game at regular speed. Achievements turned back on so despite colonizing Pluto, steam thinks I never built a ship  :P

It's such an incredibly cool game that just needs some cleanup in order to be incredible. Ship combat/AI for example is nearly unusable. As far as I can tell, there is no way to fly in formation, no way to set speed, no way to turn around, etc. It's just ramming speed, chaotic dodging, or off. If you pass over control to the AI it's not much better. In the early game I had ships with incredibly high thrust so they could dodge practically anything but they had limited fuel. The AI would just make them fly in spirals in a preemptive dodge or something and use up most of the fuel so then the ship would be stranded after the fight. Later I was attacking a space station with a huge fleet and the AI started sending my ships in one by one. Also the max speed is just way too slow. Every ship can be dead in the water yet you have to wait for them to drift out of the combat zone.

It's incredibly incredibly cool that the game has proper space battles but I just did the quick sim battle most of the time.

Had lots of fun science details so you can tell the devs are nerds, but also a lot of wonky science and boring text. Reminds me a lot of Stellaris.
