Missing series s would be funny enough. A cross gen series x release would prob happen.

You think they're still going to force all games onto series s in 3 years?

they have a "parity clause" or whatever the right words are. in order to ship on X you have to ship on S.

you think they will abandon that and completely fudge over their S buyers?   would be a Xbox top 5 disaster for them.

And here, I thought you believed in Xbox disasters.

Ms is clearly terrible at managing video game related stuff but I don't foresee this kind of misstep being made.

numerous publishers would basically have to say "if we can't skip S then we'll also skip X".  having just watched the massively prolonged cross gen period I doubt it comes to that.

no,.. I've always said S would limit games especially in the late gen.  this will work to Sony's advantage as the only publisher not restricted by S they will continue to build their image of "playstation = quality"

call me out in 3 years if you must.   perfect dark ships on S and X.   the most obvious reason why is if it were to skip them,.. a decision for development to switch target hardware  would need to have been made already.

I think the critical piece is that Series S has been the more successful Xbox console.

If it barely sold, I don't think enough people would care if it got dropped. But that's not particularly the case.

another great point.  i don't have the numbers in front of me but especially at this point in time series S is probably around 50% of the xbox user base and i twould be bad business to drop half your userbase.  i expect that to drop % as series X becomes more available but so far series S has been the only xbox you can actually buy.
