Yeap... I'm really surprised with the digital ratio for Destiny (well it is an online only game after all) being bigger than retail.
That means Destiny sales are even higher than I thought... I was estimating around 13 million units sold but it can be way more.
After all it reached 20 million users registered in April.
Yeah it isn't very good, I hope it has good legs otherwise its going to be irrelevant. I just don't think its a good game for the current WiiU audience. The adverts are definitely directed at kids but barely any kids have a WiiU, they all play on mobile/tablet or still have a Wii

Yeah it seems to be having very good legs at the moment too. If this is replicated elsewhere then it may reach 15m+
Maybe we will get an update on its sales soon.

Splatoon sold over 90% of its 200k estimated 1st week shipment it might do 200k+ with digital in JP.

Quote from: Legend on Jun 01, 2015, 04:23 PMThe movie will be huge, but does that really change things for the game that much?

The original battlefronts sold like 4-6 millionish each according to chertz. Even if the new movie makes BF3 do 100% better, that's still only about what BLOPS3 should do on one platform! BF3 would have to do 300% what the originals did, or BLOPS3 would have to be a trainwreck, for star wars to win out.
The original CoDs sold 2-3m

Haha but those cods have had games between them, slowly increasing in popularity. Can't find numbers for the first cod, but 2 was 6.14 mil. 3 was 7.47 mil. 4 was 17.96... That's a huge jump actually...

Yes, from 3 to 4 was a huge jump. Battlefront will be the same. Do you seriously only expect 4-6m for it?

It will be perfectly timed with the film + FPS games are way more popular on consoles now than they were back when BF1 and 2 came out + it's Star Wars. 15m+, probably 20m+

No I never said it'd do 4-6 mil, just that BF1 and BF2 did that.

I'd bet just shy of 10 mil across all platforms.

Lulz. It will do that in 2015 alone. I'm willing to bet my house on that

Battlefront and Blops 3's sales also depend on whether they will be bundled. If, for instance, Battlefront is bundled while Blops is not, then that will definitely affect cumulative sales.

Where's your source for that estimate? Last I checked it as 150K.

Digital I'm fairly certain it did at least 190K, but don't quote me on that.

Just to be fair the graph talks about sales revenue...

So you need account the digital price is always full and the retail have deals and price cuts... so the digital unit sales is not that big.

Very true, if sony make Battlefront their big holiday push, that will help sales a lot.

I'm finding myself agreeing with @Pezus here, I think it may managed 15m+ if advertised right. It'll defo reach 10m. Still don't think it will match Black Ops 3 though

My source is the media create thread on gaf
Hiska's sources told him Splatoon had a huge success and sold through 90%+ of its first week shipment. He went on to say he wouldn't be surprised Splatoon did over 200k with digital. Many stores were restocked Friday it seems and Splatoon had really high digital ratio apparently as well.

That doesn't mean they shipped 200k to retail though...
On the contrary it sounds more like the 150k shipped is correct. Otherwise digital ratio wouldn't be said to be "high"

QuoteI wonder if this is their most successful game yet.

Dying Light, as mentioned above, has performed very strongly for Techland. "It's now 4.5 million unique users," Marchewka said. But that's not the same as sales. "No, it's slightly less," he corrected. "Sales (we) count later - we need time to calculate the sales and returns and so on. Unique users means all the unique users we calculated on the server playing the game for significant number of time. Sales might be slightly less because that includes also secondary sales." And pirates, presumably.

QuoteIn addition there are a couple of downloadable content releases to come, apparently, plus "a lot" of updates and quests and challenges. In other words, "a lot of reasons for people to play with their friends". "A significant amount of people have finished the game," he realises, "and they want new content, to keep going. "Obviously we're also thinking about how to think about the sequel," he added, "what should happen there. So a lot of talk going on right now."On top of that, supporting Dying Light modders on PC remains a priority for Techland. "Yeah, this is one of the concentrations," he assured me. "We wanted to deliver them (the) tools to create, to express, to show the other players how the Dying Light mechanics could be used different extreme ways."
