It's a minority, but a significant one at that. I believe Sony ran a survey and found that approximately a third the PS4 userbase were people who did not own a PS3 last gen.

That is gonna change very soon!

Its still a pretty bad deal for those who want to get into the series.
No, how can it be a bad deal when it contains two whole games when they could just include nothing lol. Come on, son. First rule is that free is never a bad deal. Second is that two games are much better than silly themes, even if they "only" last for 90 days (who can't complete those two in 90 days is beyond me). Third is that they DO include a GoW theme lol, so there's that. FOURTH, and most important, is that A LOT of PS4 owners never had a PS3 (as confirmed by Sony) and this remaster is targeted at THEM, not at us who already played the game(s). You'd tell them to go buy a PS3 with the GoW Saga? Is that a better deal than getting the games free?

I personally would get God of War Saga if I was new to the series. But as Kryta-Kun mentioned I guess I would get this PS4 "Remaster" if I didnt have a PS3 so I guess but still its pretty bad that you get two "Rental" games for 90 days as a pre-order bonus lol.

I rather take the skins and themes as the pre-order bonus personally lol.

Their reason isnt to get people more into the series - its pretty obvious - they want people to get PSNow - and test it out. But I think majority of people will be turned off by this because I'm sure most people would want to go back and play the games again but would not want to pay again in the immediate future - THAT is the main reason why I think the deal is bad.

If they added a key code for the PS3 versions for a PS3 or somehow make a "PS3" classics section on PSN/+ - then that would be a great deal. But the fact that the pre-order bonus is on a rental system is pretty bad - even you have to admit that....come on lol.

If they hadnt announced GoW1 and 2 - they would obviously complain that it didnt feature new features to the game itself or have some tie on like digital copies of GoW1 and 2 for PSN :P!

i'm sorry but the remaster is obviously primarily targeted at the 40% of ps4 users that didn't have a ps3.  giving them a pre-order bonus locked to a console they don't own is a far shaming deal than giving them a 90-day rental they can use.

I'm pretty sure the minority has a PS4 and not a PS3 - I'm pretty dang sure about that.

I can bet you that more people own multiple systems of different generations than most people who only own one single console.

If I was a new gamer to Playstation or the God of War series - I wouldnt like this preorder because its a 90 day rental. I'm the type of gamer who likes longevity in what he owns - I expect myself to be able to play the game again in a few years from now again (which I have done with God of War 1 and 2 twice already and will do the same with them soon again on the PS3). I dont like having time restrictions especially if I decided to "Pre-Order" it. It is a shaming pre-order bonus unless your a casual who plays games once and never touch them again lol.

Free is never a bad deal but free with a catch can be a bad deal or a deal breaker.

I wasnt arguing about the PS4 theme - a "theme" is irrelevant for me lol - I was just responding to your post about getting a rental over a theme.

Fourth point may be valid but how many of them bought a PS4 for a remaster of God of War 3 or how many do you think will buy them? Not many I would say maybe - at least  but not the pre-orders.

Getting a PS3 with God of War saga would be a better deal considering you can get a PS3 for half the price and get some games bundled with the PS3 and God of War Saga for less than $20 - I got mine for new condition for $14.99.

Mind you, I'm fine with the remaster of God of War 3 - its the pre-order bonus that seems really shaming for me lol - I can see this being a trend with future games which is ugh.

Fair enough if that is their main reason. But that pre-order still stinks and if I was a new gamer for the Playstation brand I would not get a pre-order of the game personally lol. There's other ways to play God of War 1 and 2 and be able to play it again in the future without having to pay for it again to play it. (even for pirates arrrrrggggh ;p)

i still don't see how you can say this sucks.  my last pre-order bonus what a torn top hat for the little blobs in bloodborne that i replaced with a far less shaming looking hat within three hours of playing when i found another one.  access to two full games is like a million times better.

At least those things werent rentals :(!

I just hate the fact that rentals have become part of pre-order bonuses - a free digital game sure but a rental, come on :(

Also your quote thingy is broken

Guess I'm casual then because I prefer playing games once through so I can play more games.

What I don't get is how you don't seem to be able to distinguish yourself from the ones who this deal is targeted at. It's not meant for you, so of course you don't like it for yourself. However, you can't call it shaming because the remake isn't meant for you in the first place, it's meant for people who have PS4 but no PS3. I just can't accept that 90 days of two games is shaming because it's far, far better than most pre-order bonuses. Put yourself in the shoes of someone who doesn't have a PS3 but does have a PS4 and you were interested in this remake. Would you rather have the two GoW games or a theme or nothing at all?

You just seem to have issues with rentals in general. Mind you, most gamers just want to play the games and don't really care if they can play it forever because most gamers play through most games once and then they sell them or leave them collecting dust.

No worries, I like playing games I've played in the past multiple times. Guess that means I'm hardcore ;p

False , I agreed with you and kilter that this was "focused" on new players. I responded in fashion hypothetically if I was a new player to the series and what I said was if I was a new player to the series I would be discouraged to pre-order the game for rentals which is true for any franchise or any company.

If I was a new fan to the series and never had a PS2 or PS3, I would wait for God of War III remastered to go on sale for $20 or less which it will within a few months and emulate God of War 1 and 2 on PC.

If I were to pre-order the game and get the rentals - if I ever want to play the game series again in order in the future (which I have done in the past with other series i.e. Kingdom Hearts, etc) - I would have to buy the rental again which is the reason for my argument.

Well I'm sorry to say you see rental as a nice option ;o - I myself dont sell games anymore and prefer longevity rather than temporary ownership.

Just to get things clear - I'm fine with the game being remastered (although I would of preferred if it was Ascension but I guess I'll get that for PS3 soon :P). I honestly would rather get trinkets than rental games as pre-orders (which I have done with Kingdom Hearts and Bravely Default!) personally cause I know I will be able to get games dirt cheap.
