I posted this in the pc thread, it seemed to go unnoticed. It's something that i feel every gamer should know about and the difference between the "gaming" head sets and using a nice pair of studio quality headphones.

So do your self a favor, watch one of the videos in your price range.

I just got the Audio Technica AUD ATHAD500X in the mail yesterday, and i must say with just a few hours of use i'm blown away by the sound quality.  Teksyndicate suggested these for the sound stage and positional accuracy.  I'm hearing stuff in BF that I've never heard before and i can tell right where everything is just by sound. I find my self automatically Turing towards a sound if i think it might feel threatening. And it's got me quite a few kills, even more so when the other person didn't even know i was there but i noticed them based on sound alone.

Now there are some downsides to this, First they are open backed, which is what gives you the extremely large sound stage, but it leaks out. So others can hear, this isn't going to be good for travel or bugging your roommates. You'll have to use a mod mic or something like a blue snowball,  even the pseye if your gaming on ps4. And speaking of ps4 you'll need to buy another part, Astros mixamp, I suggest the 2013 model, or a similar DAC/amp. You'll need something with an D audio in for it to work. And finally expect to be wired.

Lame.

i've got the ps gold wireless and they are awesome.

1. great sound
2. wireless
3. easy to set up
4. sound/chat balancing

i can't see any reason to walk away from these.  i tad bit better sound quality won't make up for the convenience of an integrated product.

I have them too. Point 2 and 3 are the only ones I can agree with now. They are a good set for the budget minded gamer. if your looking to compete those arnt doing you any favors. It's not a tad bit either, it's a leap.
