Got it on Steam the very hour it came out. Did two playthroughs so far.

Easily the best game I've played this year.

Best MetroidVania game since Super Metroid and SOTN.

I finished my first playthrough in 11 hours and 52 minutes. I died quite a bit during it, upward of 300 times, but the difficultly was fair and rewarding. I was being quite reckless actually, trying a lot of things that an abilities later on would make things possible/easier.

Second playthrough clocked in at 7h25. Got much better with the controls and Ori's abilities, and knew what I was getting in for. 140 deaths.

Second playthrough was to get most achievements and 100%. I died 103 times and clocked in at 6h31.

The thing about the game is that it is suited for multiple playthroughs and speed-runs. Ori is such a joy to control because the controls are tight and basically pixel perfect. I don't think I've ever played a 2D game that controls better than this. The fact that the game is as beautiful as it is, with a lot of background animations and effects, paint like graphics, and because it's, you know, just really very fun to play, makes it so I just want to keep playing and get better and better, perfecting my runs through it, finding shortcuts, etc...

I currently have 3 missing achievements:

- Supersonic: Finish the game in under 3 hours (will get there in the coming days)

- Immortal: Complete whole game without dying (this one will be quite the challenge)

- Elite: Complete the whole game without using an Ability Point (currently doing this)

The game is basically a modern take on the classic metroidvania formula. It doesn't reinvent the wheel, but what it does, it achieves it as near flawlessly as one could hope for. I think any fan of that type of games should get it without thinking, especially for the quite already low asking price.
