My target has had it for days now. Been tempted to say fudge em and break street date for myself. I'd probably be flagged and fired though. But i give no nuggets. It ain't my money maker. We all know what that is

Yeah and you need to get your dog back on that pole. I'm not throwing my money at the air, baby.

You're thinking of the wrong pole ;-)

from neogaf. the guy wanted to show how getting into cover touched the bottle but only lightly so it didn't quite fall off.

Reading impressions on GAF from people who have played most or all of the game. Very positive impressions. They all seem to agree that the game is worth a Day 1 purchase. It's not perfect. One guy mentions he doesn't like the early story pacing. Another guy said that some of the QTEs in the game felt out of place. Verendus states that he thinks Uncharted 2, Uncharted 3, and Gears of War were better games but that The Order is better than Max Payne 3, Vanquish, Gears of War 2, and the original Uncharted. Some things that seem to be universal praises are the visuals, music and sound effects, voice acting, character development, atmosphere, and solid gameplay with some gripping moments. There also seems to be the agreement that this game was clearly designed as the beginning of a larger story as it leaves blanks and apparently the ending leaves you wanting more.

Legend

Better than uncharted 1? Bs.

Better than gears sounds great though. So much for being a cheap knock off hehe.

Sounds like an 8 or 9 out of ten to me :)

I hope that doesn't mean the story is unfinished, that would suck

Well what would be an unfinished story to you? I would say that considering RAD has made it clear for awhile that this game is the start of a franchise you should probably expect the ending to leave you wondering in much the same way the original Halo ending did.

I mean, the story of the first game should be finished. If they set out to do a certain task, that has to be resolved. That's what I mean, I'm not saying there can't be any story left to tell, just that the objective of this game should be dealt with

That's not really saying much  8)

Anyway, impressions are just that, impressions from specific people. Your mileage may vary. That bit about early pacing, i've seen all of it and it seems fine to me..but i like games with slower sections, he probably doesn't. So it will change from person to person. Makes me wonder if i'll like the second half less (gameplay-wise, not story) because of the opposing feeling. I'll see next week. I hope it doesn turn Gears-like on me, after the first several chapters.
Btw I'd take that specific guy (the one who didn't like early slower pace) descriptions with a grain of salt because he got one thing wrong...I saw it in a stream and then saw it again on a YT upload (already gone, don't ask for it). No mistaking it. Either he's being lazy with words or he hasn't played past the beggining yet and is fooling everyone with made up stuff >_>

To be fair, the guy who didn't like the early pacing said himself that such things are highly subjective. That he has very particular tastes when it comes to story.

Raven

Also, I don't recall him saying it was slow. I only remember him saying he simply didn't like the pacing and he also mentioned the story felt a bit disjointed early on.

Rorono

He did mention slow in a later post. I'm pretty sure that his "problem" was that
Spoiler for Hidden:
Chapter 2 and first half of Chapter 3 don't even have any shootouts, just cutscenes, a little bit of platforming and "linear exploration"

Raven

No. I just went back through his more recent posts. He's talking about the timid exposition of the earlier chapters of the game. He was dispelling rumors about it being a beginning that grabs you and takes you for a ride throughout the game. A lot of it had to do with the exaggeration of how awesome the beginning of the game is. It sounds like the game doesn't pick up until around the late halfway point and I don't think he's the only one saying that.

I think we're talking about 2 different posters.. The one that dispelled "the opening being up there with TLOU" was a different guy, not the one i'm talking about. And i don't think it's really all that different. Both TLOU and The order have a surprising prologue, and then a more "timid" (as you said) first chapter. I mean, after the prologue TLOU is actually kinda boring..for a little while.
Anyway I don't want to turn this into a sub-gaf thread >_>

So, moving to something else... the soundtrack is bloody amazing. I put on some foreign-audio leaks just to hear the music without spoiling what was being said and it's sooooooooooo good.

Raven

Theman2k, Rapier, and OsirisBlack are the ones whose impressions I read. Rapier said he didn't like the disjointed story of the earlier chapters and felt the exposition was timid. OsirisBlack claims the game starts off with a slow, deliberate pace that doesn't really pick up until about 5 hours in. Theman2k also said the beginning is a little slow.
