Width doesn't change, only height. 
So it wouldn't. 
Width is 900?  I don't remember exactly what it was.

Images are automatically scaled to fit within the sig.

Plus you can scale them yourself and ad text/other images.

Also its amazing how I found my old christmas sig....that I made back in 2006.

Its amazing how small it is compared now to how it was before. Amazing how much screen resolution has changed since 2006 :P.

Depends what resolution the image is and if its base 2.  Hardware has been designed to scale images before hand.  The final draw happens from that final image.
