It was getting more and more likely that MS was paying him (imho; slow updates on pro-PS-weeks, Xbox overtrack, PS undertrack), so he had to choose between the money and his credibility.
It now looks like he choose the last one but doesn't want te be teased so he does it with small steps.

So I was looking at the HW graph and PS4's first year looks very comparable to the PS360's peaks. Its miles better than their first years. Ps4 will be a beast.

Guys i think its a bit of a stretch to call ioi Xbox bias..to the point where he will purposefully skew the numbers. It just doesn't benefit his site at all. And personally, I think ioi's site means more to him than some stupid console allegiance. To be honest i dont even think ioi plays games anymore lol.

With regards to the adjustments...im with ioi on this one. It really doesn't make sense for him to adjust the numbers if he doesn't know where to put them. As of right now, the main regions are within range of the other official trackers (NPD, GFK )...so logically he can only inflate the "other" regions.

I really dont think it does Vgc any good to simply adjust because a company announces it. I remember back when MS made some announcements with regards to 360 numbers...which completely contradicted what the official trackers were saying, vgc did not adjust. This went on to the point where MS claimed a vicotory but Vgc actually had PS3 as the victor for the year.

I really dont think the gross mistracking is done purposefully, its probably caused by incorrect trend forecasting and an inaccurate or outdated sales formula. This has been happening for as long as that site has been in existence.

But he is not accurate in Europe like he claim it is... GFK and others tracking services shows different numbers... the issue was not RotW alone... it was Europe + RotW.

US is a bit overtracked and Japan on spot.

I believe Europe numbers were adjusted last week

ioi was wrong when he initially said hes main region numbers were close to the official numbers. They were only close after he made adjustments. Then he made even bigger adjustments this week, but this was only to the others regions.

Its all a bit weird and sneaky. ioi says one thing then kinda does another thing...

But my point stands. If vgc wants to be taken seriously they need to stand by their numbers. If they are extrapolating formulas from a smaller sample then they need to do just that. If they then find that their numbers are off they need to identify why its off, adjust their formulas and then adjust the numbers. Simply reporting what manufacturers are reporting doesnt really add much value...other than collating readily available information, which certainly isnt worth any money as a paid service.

His NPD numbers are wrong... Feb did 258K and Mar did 311k... the result is 3,047,000 vs 3,200,985 in VGC... ~150 overtracked.... PS4 is 100k overtracked too.
