maybe i'll try posting pick later when i'm done done but the kids had a long weekend for presidents day/conferences so i kicked them out of the house last weekend to work on the house.

so back in like october i bought a 65" tv.   i wanted to mount it on the wall but the place i wanted to mount it i had no studs to attach to.  i decided the tv was too heavy to risk mounting it only via drywall.   so starting on saturday i:
1. took down part of the wall
2. added a wall block for my tv to mount to.
3. wired an outlet to a location behind the TV
4. made my own solution for hiding the HDMI cables behind the wall
  - yeah, don't yell at me but i'm mounting the tv over the fireplace.  so i couldn't just run the wires down.  i had to run it over though 2 studs and then down.
5. pull up 2 ethernet ports up from the basement
6. created 4 custom curtain rods
   - the window in the room with the TV is 16" wide and you can't buy anything that big from amazon or whatever
   - you can buy custom built rods but they were stupidly expensive.  like $2,000
   - once i was building 1 curtain rod i decided being 3 more was affectively "free" so i'm refreshing a few other windows even though they aren't that big

i did a few other smaller projects too but nothing that notable.  the biggest of which is last fall my daughter had a tantrum and pulled her curtains off the wall.  as punishment i told her i wouldn't fix it so for the last 6 months she just hasn't had curtains and a big hole in the drywall.   i decided 6 months was long enough and fixed her room.


anyways.   excited for this to finally be done.   along side the tv i bought a ps5 pro and i still haven't taken it out of the box.  i just couldn't fit it in the room with janky solution i jimmied up have the tv in the room unmounted.

Sooooo, Analog discontinued their VGA to Composite video adapter.  That was literally the last chip of its kind.  They discontinued the entire line so I don't think they're going to make a replacement.  I asked Gemini if it's possible to do it discretely.  I have to feed component video into a bunch of flip flops and use a clock to encode the chroma.  No idea if it would work.  It gave me a circuit for component, which I already have, but if their circuit they gave me works, then I'll try their composite circuit.  It was fighting me since I referenced my circuit that I found.  It gave me a logical explanation of why it's circuit was different and didn't "Oops I was wrong" me, so I ordered it.  Just waiting for it to come in.

I just had gemini try to set something up on my raspberry Pi, only at the end to go "oops this is outdated, downgrade the os so it'll work." Obviously I just deleted everything it had me do, and I found a different solution.

Yup, I don't trust A.I.s  or rather, I know how garbled their neural nets are. But it didn't oops me when I asked some questions about why the component converter I was using did things a certain way and it gave me a logical explanation as to why it was different.  I didn't "Oh, you're right" me.  I tend to trust them when I try to fact check them and they come back with "Yes I was right".  Like, when they're right, you can't make them think they're wrong.

sometimes i ask "AI, AI on the wall who is the fairest of them all" and when it says its me i know the AI is trustworthy.  xD

I meant, when the A.I. is adamant that it is right.  Not me.

Is this a cosplay thread? My brother has a 3d printer, might be fun to use it and get into cosplay.

At least with my experience, AI that is adamant it's right is still often wrong. What you've got to do is copy its solution into another instance and tell it to critique it.

Generally when I give it an alternate take, it realizes its mistakes.  So when I brought up that other encoder, it wasn't "Oh, that's right, I'm the one that's wrong.".  I remember I was asking for a movie with actors.  I thought for sure it was wrong, and I kept telling it it was wrong, but it was adamant it was right, and it was.

As I guessed, it didn't work.  I have to try taking out a resistor, but I don't think it will matter.
