It drives me nuts when people handwave the existence of something by saying that it's rare. "Those are edge cases/exceptions".

If someone said "Unicorns don't exist"
And then I found a colony of 6 unicorns, it would be dumb to be like "well those are just exceptions."

What exactly are you looking for? I didn't say every horse is a unicorn, or that there are a lot of unicorns, I just showed (in this hypothetical) that they exist and that would be worth talking about.

At best, it feels like moving the goalposts, and at worst to me it just feels stupid. Like someone just wants to handwave reality away, just because they don't like it.
