I kind of did something dumb, and am using a 0% APR payment plan to buy a HDD...

As long as you didn't refinance your house for this, all good.

My desktop has 13 gigabytes free. I need to come up with some plan.

I've effectively added 36 TB in the past week. 

It's been an adventure. 

Added a new drive. One of the older ones was having issues. 

So I added a second one to replace it. 

But I am keeping the one that was having issues for less demanding work. The RAID building was crushing that drive. But performance seems fine by itself. 

I also have another drive that I took a risk on and it didn't pan out. Supposedly some external drives are exos drives if you remove them. But it wasn't the case for me.

I have 164.5 TB of drives on my server now. (there's 1 20 TB drive and the OS is on a 0.5 TB SSD.)

128 TB of usable space.

I think I've generally been adding another 18 TB drive every ~6 months. But I expect that will change....

Have more server work to do.

Something seems to be wrong as most of the fans aren't running.  I did find one connection unused, but I don't think that would cause 6 fans to not run. 

Bought some new fans, and a new way to connect them. 

It's been a hectic time. This might be why one of the drives was struggling during the RAID reshape. 

Things seem stable enough, currently during normal use. But I can't finish adding the drive to the array until I get the fans replaced.  And it'll be good, because they were molex fans. 

I tried reconnecting the molex connection that was missed, and one of the pins apparently broke out...

...part of me thinks i should buy a second switch while the price is still $450.   i could sell it in a year for massive profit!!

Yeah just came to post. Wow that is crazy.

I need to start buying things at launch. There is no reason to wait cause prices go up not down.

i mean, this is the first gen to do so.   maybe it won't be true with next gen (ps6) because AI implodes.   but at this point i'm not upset about getting a ps5/ps5pro/switch 2 near each launch.

Apparently the Steam Machine was going to be more expensive than that even a few months ago. 

Let alone now. 


Seems like it would cost like twice as much as a PS5 now.

Doa or will pc guys have enough money to geek out on it? I sure have no interest.

I think I wanted to do what I do with movies, what I would probably have to do is start buying my games from gog.com

And have a few PCs set up, that would connect to my NAS basically. 

That could be neat.

That would be cool but is it worth it vs just using steam and downloading as needed?
