Quote from: Legend on Oct 26, 2025, 06:28 PMThe problem is, the games will be windows games either way. No dev from this point forward will make xbox ports. Instead it'll just be verifying and optimizing the windows build for this hardware.

Dual boot seems like a lot of work for very little gain.
I'm fine with that.

This basically will make Xbox the same as Steam in design (unless MS screws that up).

But why buy that vs regular pc?

For access to backwards compatibility for the legacy Xbox games.

If the b/c is expanded beyond this, I'm fine with that and will stick with just getting a gaming PC.

Emulation of xbox, xbox 360, and xbox one is surely good enough by now right? And all series games are also on pc.

Am I missing something?

Exclusives!!!

kitler53

so exclusives means just not PlayStation?   or are they going to take away from steam too??

it would be worth it to lose out on PlayStation just to see the epic meltdowns of the steam fanboys that think they have a right to all games day1.

for me personally all I want is fable.   don't care if it's late.

okay, read the email directly.

all marketing or corporate talk and nothing substantial.  just a bunch of hopes and dreams with no concrete actions.

honestly this sounds more of the same to me.

great quote from era:  "This sounds like every Phil Spencer memo you've ever heard or read..."

the tweet isn't wrong.  the quote is a quote. the bullet list is accurate.

just that the overall email was corporate BS.  the kind intended to hype you up while also saying nothing of substance.  the kind with so many conflicting but vague statements that you can pretty much walk away with whatever conclusion you want to and no matter what actions come next they won't "technically be wrong"

lots of talk about affordability while also talking about how premium Helix will be for instance.

lots of people comparing it to Spencers "just these 4 games" speech.

I mean just the fact of what Helix is seemingly going to be, makes me believe they are still going full in on multiplatform with the occasional exclusive. Like old halo games coming to PS5, but any new ones will be exclusive for a while. Willing to bet Bethesda games will all be multiplatform day one from now on.  I'm sure Indy, and Starfield did pretty well on PS5 to warrant them to not keep them exclusive.  Plus, Xbox sales are abysmal, so they are leaving so much revenue out from PlayStation if they are exclusive. MS loves money and greed, so whatever makes them the most (I mean most businesses need money)

xbox just needs a clear designation of what they are doing.

activition was always multiplat.  as was bethesda.   but "microsoft games studios" was always exclusive.

i think it would be financial suicide to go full exclusive for MS.   especially games like minecraft, CoD, Diablo,.. you'll do massive damage to the IP by making those exclusive.   but I don't think anyone would care if "south of midnight" was exclusive and it gives at least something for them to talk about when trying to distinguish their platform.   i don't think its a bad thing to have some exclusives to xbox.

...but the worst possible future for xbox is the one in which games are exclusive or not on a "case by case basis".  the value of the exclusives is nothing is no one believes they are even exclusives.   they need a clear policy and they need to stick to it.
