Quote from: Legend on Mar 29, 2026, 09:30 PMIt is odd that that hasn't been solved yet. Like yes it is a ton of data but like maybe just make a 32x32 latent video that can be 10 minutes long and then use current tech to upscale it. IDK
I'm surprised there aren't more attempts at chunking. Take the last few frames of a 10 second clip and do image to video.

I understand it would likely get unstable over time. But it seems fully doable right now and yet I haven't really seen anyone try it.

Wait, couldn't current models technically do that already? Actually I think Grok Imagine does. You can extend the clips indefinitely. I went from 6 seconds, to 12, to 18, to 24, and ended at 30. Maybe grok tops out at 30 idk.

Yeah that's what I'm saying. It's totally feasible now to do something like that, yet I've never seen anyone actually do it.

i have a mandatory "AI Training" i'm taking right now.

in the opening they basically said "you might not feel comfortable with AI right now but you should be.  AI is already all around us making our lives better.   Have you seen autocorrect fix your misspellings?  that's AI.  have you been show recommended TV shows on streaming services?  that's AI."

nothing quite like destroying the credibility of your training in the first 2 minutes...

oh gawd.  this is just propaganda.

"you receive an urgent email from your boss asking you to analyze a huge dataset for critical insights.   don't worry.  there is an AI tool for anything these days.  you just need to find the right one and like magic your problem will be solved".

There is kind of an issue that AI is very broad of a term.

Some people like to try to differentiate by calling some things "generative AI".
And kind of what I was complaining about is that it gets weird when you try to differentiate.

I'm glad my work has been open about AI, but not pushing it.

I think AI, in the general public sense, needs to be reserved for neural nets with 10 million+ parameters.

Total rando cutoff but something to stress that this is "black box" AI instead of just a basic neural net or traditional programing.

The AI needs to get better at recommending me movies.

The best AI would just let me say say "I want movies that released after X date, and had a theatrical release" and then it'd just show me all the movies and I'd figure out what the fudge I want myself  8)
