watched the DF video.

i'm a bit 50/50 on this.  some of the before/after shots looked a lot better.  some looked a lot worse.   i dunno what to say about if the lighting is technically more accurate or not but i would say i didn't like the way it looked.   everything became very bright and washed out.  while faces seemed to get more detail they also look like AI slop.

people often talk about how UE gives all games a sameyness.   this looks like a leap forward in taking the art out of games.   i absolutely do not want my games to be "photo realistic" most of the time.

Nah I'm not feeling this at all. Too many examples are seemingly changing facial structure and just adding a realism filter over the image. This is not it

You still feel that way? Nvidia is insisting it's just lighting and color grading.

The environment looks like it's just lighting and color grading, but it really feels like something more is happening with faces.  Lips look fuller, fewer teeth, face looks like a realism filter applied.

A lot of that could be lighting changes.

It clearly isn't.

I saw an analyasis of the soccer clip.  The players chest warps.  His arms disappear twice.  The soccer ball warps into odd shapes.

In another video you can see shadows disappear when the objects casting the shadows leave the screen space.

All the signs of AI slop.

Plus the lighting sucks in half the things shown.  Its not realistic its just blown out.

It doesn't help that their example comparisons are not 1 to 1. Plenty of details change beyond just the graphics, because the screenshots are not taken at the same time. Like the starfield face example, the background behind her face on the right is clearly not a change caused by DLSS5.

But also those starfield shots looks really good  ;D

Link please. The warping, arm disappearing, and soccer ball would be great to see.

I agree about screen space. I don't know how this is going to work well with the edges of screens, and with things that are not visible but just off screen. It needs to have more data, like just low res reflection probe data would be super useful.

so here is what i watched for the soccer ball stuff.  it's a long video but the soccer related stuff starts at 9:22
can't remember what i watched for the shadows one.  i'll come back if i suddenly remember but i don't generally watch these types of videos so i don't know the names of the people i'm watching and when i watch if via a site like era it doesn't show up in my youtube history.  this one i was able to google for but i can't find the other one.
