@the-Pi-guy What's going on with Dragon Prince?  I only got up to a few episode of Season 4 and I just didn't get around to watching the rest.  Why do they need a kickstarter to finish when Netflix gave them 7 seasons? (I was shocked when I heard they got that much)

I had only watched the first ~3 seasons I think.

But apparently they didn't finish the story in 7 seasons.

That I gathered, but why?  I mean, it's not like they didn't know they had 7 seasons to wrap up the show.  Now they go into their hubris and try to get an 8th season made instead of finishing things up?

No idea.

Maybe they thought it'd be popular enough that they would just keep making it.

Or maybe, they made bad writing decisions because of feedback, and weren't sure where to take it.

has anyone watch full metal alchemist brotherhood?

i watched the original anime years ago.   i was told brotherhood was amazing.   i guess i figured it was a sequel but after 3 episodes it is so far a 100% rehash of what i've already watched.  i wanted original content.   not sure i want to watch a reboot.

I haven't watched it yet, but the original was made while the manga was still being written, so it differs from the manga quite a bit as you go.

Whereas Brotherhood was made close to the end, and basically matches the manga.

From what I understand it diverges more and more as you go. I see a few different episode numbers, somewhere in the 10-14th episode it diverges from the original anime.

The most that I really knew before, was that people have said they expect that you've watched the original so they rush through the early stuff.

The second half is probably very different.  As others have mentioned, the manga was being written and the anime goes way off.  Brotherhood is closer to the manga.

okay.  so I checked to episodes and you are suggesting part 1 of 5 is redundant and parts 4 plus are new.

I guess I can deal with that.

I always find it interesting when I get more into enthusiast spaces. In good ways and bad ways.

Warner Bros released the Peanuts (Charlie Brown) set. Previously they usually just have a few of the episodes. This one has almost all of them, with a few exceptions.

I think they're 80% good. Some of them look like bad DVDs quality. Most of them look good HD though. Also some weird audio issues, mostly because they didn't just keep it as stereo/mono.  They tried remixing.

I think they're good enough, most people aren't going to care.

And someone has written like 10 paragraphs about it, that make it seem like the sky is falling.

A couple people are wondering if it a sign the Tom and Jerry set coming out soon will be a disaster.

And most people agree, since it's by Warner Archive and not Warner Home Video, it's almost certainly going to be great.

People will also return movies and shows to try to get the paper covers that go over the case.

It is rather frustrating that companies do such a poor job of reframing.

kitler53

i'm get really frustrated when they don't allow you to view the original framing.   i'm not bothered by black bars,.. i just want to see it in it's original vision without edits.

Current Plex stats:

863 Movies (162 4ks)
193 TV shows (technically 184 - I need more HDD space.)

Particularly been buying more shows lately.

It's been easier to watch shorter shows lately. Still trying to get through Game of Thrones, and it feels like a big deal if we get 2 episodes in a week lately. And it doesn't help that it's not my favorite show. It's not a bad show by any stretch. It's just not my cup of tea.

I don't know, I've been in a big anime kick.

There haven't been a lot of big non-animated releases that I've been interested in lately. Want to get Veep, West Wing, and The Expanse. And probably The Walking Dead, maybe.

A bunch of interesting animated releases lately though. Peanuts collection, Tom and Jerry,
