everwild and perfect dark.  didn't that one xbox shill pretty recently "confirm" things are finally going great with these titles?

...that is a lot of dev time to be canceled.  everwild was announced in 2019.  perfect dark 2020.    MS really needs to not announce a game until the game is in the home strech.  it might not be #1 on the list of reasons xbox is struggling but the frequency in which they announce a game and then never release it makes it so MS announcing a game feel like a sub-par to nintendo/sony's announcements.

50% reduction at turn 10 probably means forza is just horizon now.

This is way worse than I expected, if the non confirmed stuff ends up confirmed.

I expected big layoffs, but not so many games getting axed.

Perfect Dark was confirmed cancelled, Initiative shut down.

I think the only thing not confirmed at the moment is the Blade cancellation - which I think is false.

Ouch! I expected Perfect Dark to suck, cause Microsoft, but it had some good potential.

Crazy the studio never made a game.

Empty promises by that hack Phil, just like I said a few days ago.

How on earth is this good leadership?

Will this finally get fans to turn on him?

I have no idea if Phil is good or not, maybe he has fought against every bad thing pushed by Microsoft, but xbox has died under his leadership. Fans should not be happy.

It certainly seems like this is the day.

I haven't seen anyone defend him, and I've seen plenty of comments saying that Phil should go f himself.

It feels much more negative than even previous layoffs.

Quote from: Horizon on Jul 02, 2025, 08:29 AMThe US and UK are still strong markets for Xbox compared to other markets though it's just even their install base has decreased in both countries as a result of their actions. I'll also say Xbox's games appeal heavily to the US base with Halo and Gears whereas stuff like Uncharted and GT we're/are absolutely massive in Europe. I don't know what it is even but Sony's american made games have more international appeal than Xbox's.
I was meaning that US and UK are similar to each other. But a lot of these games don't even really have appeal in the US anymore. (And I'm quite aware that most of the world didn't really have much interest in Xbox - and on the other end, MS barely ever tried in a lot of these regions.)

There has basically never been a chance for them to be more popular than PlayStation, but if they'd at least put out incredible games worth playing, at least they'd be doing well in the US/UK.

This entire generation, it feels like the only real reason to get into the ecosystem is because of Gamepass (or because you're already in the ecosystem with a backlog of older Xbox games.)

I'm not sure how good MS's advertising has been here, but at least before today, people have generally seemed to like Phil Spencer and thought he was a genuine gamer guy. And quite a few people here were under the impression that Sony was the anti-consumer guy and MS was the pro consumer guy.

I think they would have been at least worth having a conversation about, if the games were showstoppers.

But they've been failing on all the important fronts.

i was actually referring to Jez when i said "xbox shill" but i can see how you would jump to the conclusion i meant Phil.
