I rewatched the end of annihilation. Just so awesome.

I think the thing I love about it is that it "lingers." Instead of being a quick wtf flash like most movies do, the scene just keeps on going.

I think that's my favorite thing in general. Like in SOMA and all these other great things. Have something unbelievable, and then go deeper.

Watching Ghostbusters for the first time in a long time.

Random thoughts:
Spoiler for Hidden:
It's funny that Venkman is a skeptic for the first few minutes of the film

It's funny that they show some religious and political complications.

The 4k largely looks great. Special effects are a little bad. And there are some weird moments where it feels like I'm watching film reel rotating.

Bill Murray really has a particular brand of sarcasm.

Top 8 movies:
- Lord of the Rings
- Your Name
- A Silent Voice
- Back to the Future
- The Matrix
- 12 Angry Men
- Shawshank Redemption
- Good Will Hunting

I'm struggling to pin down what I would call my top 10.

Avatar
2001
Alien
Silence
Arrival
Annihilation
Blade Runner 2049

All I can think of at the moment. Movies that have stuck with me, shaped me.

The YT algorithm has been pushing Quentin Tarantino on me.

I've only seen two of his movies unfortunately. Most of his movies have a 4k, I'll probably end up getting all of them eventually.

Pulp Fiction feels like it has an atypical arc and I have a hard time knowing how I feel about it.

Inglorious Basterds is more typical - and I guess I want to say a few things about it.
Spoiler for Hidden:
The opening is incredible, and frankly could be a short story on its own.

I feel like it's a serious movie overall, but there are a few scenes that stick out in that regard. "That's a bingo", the obviously bad Italian to a lesser extent.

This might be controversial. The ending felt a little off to me. It feels like Landa holds the cards during negotiation and he gives them up, to be handed over. Maybe it was more present than I remember, but I feel like it would have made more sense if it was made more clear if Germany was losing at the time.

I feel like I understand the intent behind it, but I feel like the movie didn't make the intent as clear as it should've.

Inglorious Bastards and Django are his only movies I really liked. But I haven't seen all of his older ones.

I very much agree with you about inglorious bastards

Spoiler for Hidden:
It felt lando was winning. And there was no clear indication at the time that the Germans were losing.

And like you said lando just had the upper hand, then decided, fudge that, I'll just throw it all away.

Also the ending for the Hitler part felt off. While it's not based on a true story and the events off the movie are fictional, having a major end to the war, and it becoming an alternate history piece came out of no where. And honestly it felt ... Out of place.

Anyways.

Pulp fiction, hateful 8, and Django are all better Tarantino movies. But inglorious bastards had some incredible scenes like the opening scene, the bar scene and the Italian scene.

Crazy that it's over 3 years late. What the heck were they thinking with that original date?

Well it helps when you don't restart your entire project.
